The high school spring sports season officially kicked off last week for area baseball and softball teams and with that the Kansas State High School Activities Association has released regional assignments for the year.

This year baseball will have just three regionals featuring area teams, with Sabetha hosting in Class 3A while other 3A teams will compete in the KC-Bishop Ward regional.

The final baseball regional for this season comes in Class 2-1A, as Oskaloosa will host a regional featuring all area 2A and 1A schools.

Softball this season will also have just three sites featuring area teams as Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Nemaha Central will each host in 3A, while McLouth will host the remaining area teams in 2-1A.
