Holton Takes Second in Home Track Invitational, Jackson Heights Finishes Third

2019 Holton Invitational – Results

The spring sports season kicked off Tuesday evening for area track teams at the Holton Invitational, and it was the host Wildcats who had the top area finish taking second place on both the girls and boys sides.

The Wildcats finished with 10 first place finishers on the day, led by Canon Karn who took home two gold medals winning the boys javelin and triple jump.

Jayger Carson also won the 400 meter dash, while he teamed up with Reese Robinson, Trey Wright and Ian Watkins to win the 4 by 100 meter relay.

For the Lady Cats they had three field event winners, as Amariah Allen won the triple jump, Abby Boeckman the shot put and Macey Gross the high jump.

Allen also claimed gold in the 200 meter dash, while Regan Baum took the 100 meter crown and Cailin Parks the 400 meter dash.

The Jackson Heights Cobras also had a strong showing with third place girls and boys finishes which came behind four first place finishes.

On the boys side the Cobras swept the top three spots in the shot put, led by Taylor Wamego who took first followed by Carson Williams and Curtis Niehues.

On the girls side Jackson Heights had two field event winners, as Grace Roles won the discus throw while Sydney Raborn won the javelin.

Jackson Heights’ first place finishes were rounded out by a relay team gold, as Karley Dieckmann, Jodi White, Kylee Dieckmann and Abby Brey teamed up to win the 4 by 100 meter relay title.

Hiawatha also finished with four first place finishes on the day, with three coming on the boys side.

Broderick Jones picked up a first place finish in the discus, while the Redhawks also picked up the two distance race titles with Justin Hodge winning the 1600 meter run and Liam Jones the 3200 meter run.

Hiawatha rounded out their first place finishes on the girls side, as Kate Madson won the 3200 meter run by five seconds.

Atchison had just two first place finishes on the day, as Alex Martin won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes as he returns after a trip to state last year.

Valley Falls finished up area gold medal winners with one, as Nathan Hawk won the boys high jump.
