Jan. 21 KBCA – Rankings
Several midseason high school basketball tournaments took place last week across the state of Kansas and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the newest set of rankings with nine area teams named.
Four area teams area into this week’s Class 3A rankings with two coming on the girls side, as Nemaha Central remains in the top overall spot with a perfect 10-0 record while Pleasant Ridge has moved up three spots in the rankings to No. 6 sitting at 8-1.
On the boys side of the 3A rankings the Maur Hill-Mount Academy boys still sit at No. 2 after winning the McLouth Invitational last week with a 10-0 record, while the Sabetha boys are ranked sixth after taking fourth at the Burlington Invite last week.
The 2A girl’s rankings are dominated by three Northeast Kansas League teams, as Jackson Heights continues to be ranked second at 7-1, Jefferson County North eighth at 7-2 and for the first time this season ACCHS 10th at 8-2.
The final two ranked area teams come in Class 1A as the Frankfort girls are up to the No. 4 ranking after winning the Twin Valley League Tournament last week, while the Centralia girls are ranked seventh after finishing third last week in the TVL Tournament.
