Kpreps – Rankings

Week six of the high school football season came to a close Friday night and with that the newest set of high school football rankings have been released.

In Class 3A it continues to be Sabetha and Perry Lecompton in the top five, as the Bluejays are No. 1 according to the Cap Journal while the Kaws are No. 5 on kpreps.com.

Sabetha continued their state title defense with another dominating win last week, this time a 31-0 win over rival Holton and are 6-0 on the season.

Perry meanwhile grinded out a hard-fought 24-13 win over Jeff West last week and sits at 5-1, with a big-time matchup this week against Topeka-Hayden in a rematch of the 2008 4A state title game.

The 1A rankings continue to house two teams, as Centralia is No. 4 and Jackson Heights five in the kpreps rankings.

The Panthers won their fourth straight last week taking down Northern Heights 59-7, rushing for over 500 yards with three guys over the century mark on the night. As to the Cobras they edged out Troy in a defensive struggle 8-7, scoring their only touchdown in the first half.

In 8-man DI Clifton-Clyde continues to hold serve in the middle of the top five, as the Eagles check in at No. 3 according to both publications. Clifton-Clyde continued their dominance Friday night with a 54-0 thumping of Stockton, and have outscored opponents 342-64 on the season.

The 8-man DII rankings saw the biggest shakeup, as kpreps has moved Axtell up to No. 2 right behind Hanover, while the Cap Journal has the Eagles at No. 3. The Wildcats and Eagles played an instant classic in one of the top games around the state Friday night between two undefeated teams, as Hanover pushed their current win streak to 31 games hanging on for a 50-42 win.
