Five Area Teams Highlight Week Five KVA Rankings

KVA Week Five - Rankings

Week five of the high school volleyball season wrapped up on Saturday and with that the newest set of rankings has been released by the Kansas Volleyball Association. 

In Class 3A three area teams continue to be ranked with all coming from the Big 7, led by Royal Valley who continues to be ranked No. 1 in the state with a record of 26-1. The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season Saturday falling to Silver Lake in the Eagles home tournament, but bounced back Tuesday with a pair of wins over Holton and Perry Lecompton.

Holton has the biggest jump of any area team, as the Lady Cats jumped three spots this week from No. 10 to No. 7 with a record of 22-8. After a 1-1 week last week, the Lady Cats split a pair of matches Tuesday night falling to Royal Valley but bouncing back to beat Perry.

Nemaha Central wraps up the 3A rankings checking in at No. 8 for the second straight week with a record of 22-8. After having the weekend off the Thunder racked up two victories Tuesday night, taking down Sabetha and Jeff West.

In Class 1A two area teams continue to be ranked, as the Centralia Panthers remain in the top spot once again with a perfect 30-0 record. Fresh off claiming the Valley Falls tournament championship Saturday the Panthers picked up two more dominating wins Tuesday night taking down Linn and Washington County.

The final area ranked team comes from Valley Falls, as the Dragons remain at No. 9 this week with a record of 24-5. The Dragons fell to Centralia in the championship of their home tournament Saturday, but bounced back Tuesday with a pair of two-set wins over Horton and Pleasant Ridge.
