Clifton-Clyde Boys, Hanover Girls & Nemaha Central Girls All Win Team Titles at Republic County Track invite

Several area teams were in action on Tuesday to continue their track and field seasons as part of the Republic County Invite. 

The competition was split into two divisions with Division I being smaller class schools and Division II being larger class schools that were in attendance. In the Division I competition on the boys side it was Clifton-Clyde sitting atop the team standings at the end of the day in convincing fashion scoring 132 total points to win by over 40 points. Axtell boys took second place out of nine schools with other area team performances being fourth place for Hanover and sixth through eighth for Linn, Blue Valley-Randolph and Washington County. On the girls side of competition in Division 1 it was Hanover taking the top team spot with 126 points but it was tighter than the boys competition as the Axtell girls took second with 117 points and Clifton-Clyde girls finished third in with 105 points. Linn, Washington County and Blue Valley-Randolph finished sixth, eighth and ninth in the girls action as teams. 

In the Division II competition at the Republic County Invite Nemaha Central, Marysville and Valley Heights were all in action. The Thunder earned first place for the girls team winning by 14 points over Concordia scoring 111 total points, while the boys took second place just nine points out of first place. Marysville girls earned third place as a team, while the boys took fifth and for Valley Heights it was fifth and eighth place team finishes for the girls and boys. 

Hanover Wildcats racked up the most event wins on the day with 12 and seven of those coming in the girls competition. The lady Wildcats swept the relay competitions winning the 4x100 (53.23), 4x400 (4:29.82) and 4x800 (10:29.13) meter relays. Bailey Liby and Claire Zarybnicky each added a first place on the track for the Hanover girls winning the 300 meter hurdles (52.96) and 800 meter run (2:34.49), while Macy Doebele won both the long jump (16'07.50) and triple jump (34'09.25). For the Wildcat boys it was Pete Peters leading the way winning three events taking first in the high jump (6'0), shot put (40'10) and discus (127'09). Carter Bruna and Jacob Jueneman each snagged a first place showing too winning the javelin (158'05) and 1600 meter run (5:11.84). 

Clifton-Clyde boys on their way first place as a team registered five event wins, while the Eagles in total had seven at the Republic County Invite. Brant Douglas won the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 12.10 and 24.47, while Zach Sorell took first in the 800 meter run (2:12.61). The boys 4x400 meter relay (3:57.73) also took first for the Eagles, while Jacob Stenberg won the pole vault (11'06). Lady Eagles were led by Macyee Callihan and Emily Coffman who won the discus (111'01) and javelin (111'0), respectively. 

Axtell Eagles notched eight event wins on the day as Olivia Kuckelman won the girls 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 6:04.25 and 12:51.84. Kori Schmelzle sprinted to the win in the 200 and 400 meter dashes posting times of 27.89 and 1:03.67, while Mariah Deters won the 100 meter dash (13.36). In the boys competition Hunter Koch won the 400 meter dash (1:03.51), while Quinn Buessing took first in the 3200 meter run (10:45.47) and the 4x800 meter relay (10:03.40) took first.

Also in the Division I competition Linn's Shelby Ohlde won the girls high jump (5'08) and Camryn Boykin of Washington County won the girls 100 meter hurdles (17.42). 

In the Division II competition at Republic County the Nemaha Central Thunder registered seven event wins overall on the day. Zachary Buessing swept the boys hurdles winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.56 and 41.59. Dalton Schmelzle won the boys triple jump (42'01) and Bryant Stallbaumer took first in the discus (129'11). In the girls competition Alleigh Kramer won the 200 meter dash (27.67), while Jacy Dalinghaus won the javelin (134'05) and the 4x800 meter relay team took first with a time of 10:54.54. 

Valley Heights Mustangs had five first place finishes with Sam Vermetten winning both the 800 and 1600 meter runs behind times of 2:30.89 and 5:44.42. While, Kayla Smith took first in the long jump and triple jump posting leaps of 17'02 and 38'03.75. Skyler Saunders earned first in the high jump (5'04) for the Mustangs. 

Marysville was led on the day by Matt Lindhorst and Davis Lee who won the boys pole vault (13'06) and 3200 meter run (11:19.35), respectively.
