Royal Valley Hosts Multiple Area Teams For Track & Field Action

On Tuesday plenty of area schools were in action for track and field and Royal Valley played host to a meet involving a few other area teams in Sabetha, Jackson Heights and Jefferson County North. 

All four teams had top notch performances on the day with at least one first place finish. The Sabetha Bluejays had five first place finishes including Mason Engelken sweeping the boys hurdles posting times of 15.33 and 41.29 to win the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Braden Cox and Megan Meyer each won the high jump posting leaps of 6'00 and 5'00, respectively, while the lady Bluejays 4x800 meter relay team with a time of 10:39.28 took first. Eight more Top three finishes were earned by Sabetha on the day at Royal Valley. In the boys action as Henry Glynn took second in the 800 meter run, while Micah Romines placed third in the 100 meter dash and the 4x800m relay & 4x400 meter relay teams placed second and third, respectively. Skylar McAfee and Morgan Schuette earned second place finishes for the lady Bluejays coming in the 800 meter run and the high jump, respectively, while Kinley Schuette took third in the 300 meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter relay team placed third. 

The host Royal Valley was led by Ivy Fink who leapt her way to wins in both the long jump and triple jump behind leaps of 16'08.50 and 35'01, while Garrett Hicks won the boys pole vault for the Panthers with a vault of 12'00. Also in the girls competition Kain Fink registered a second place finish in the high jump and third in the triple jump, while Mary Broxterman finished third in teh 200 meter dash and Kenzie Hegemann placed third in the pole vault. In the boys action Mikal Kitchkommie posted a second place finish in the 100 meter dash, while Gavin Cumpton took second in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Jefferson County North had their top performances in the boys competition as the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams each took first with times of 44.66 and 3:33.87, while Trevor Pentlin won the boys 3200 meter run behind a time of 10:59.86. Also for the JCN boys Ridge Robertson finished second in the pole vault and third in the 200 meter dash, while Knox Tweed raced to third in the 110 meter hurdles and the 4x800 meter relay placed second. JCN girls were led by their 4x100 meter relay team who placed second.

Abby Brey led the Jackson Heights performances on the day as she posted a throw of 115'04.50 to win the javelin. Jackson Heights lady Cobras added seven other Top three finishes on the day as Faith Little took second in the 1600 meter run, while the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams each earned the silver, also, while Karley Dieckman placed second in the pole vault and Sydney Raborn earned the silver in the javelin. Kylie Dohl and Shelby Phillips each placed third in the girls high jump and 3200 meter run, respectively. Jackson Heights boys were led by Curtis Niehues who finished second in the shot put.
