3A Girls Sub State Championship at Horton High School
Nemaha Central 56, Pleasant Ridge 44

Despite 26 total fouls and 32 free throws in the first half, top seed Nemaha Central did what they needed to do to build a 21-point lead and put the game away.  The Thunder led 25-9 after one quarter as star leaders Laura Macke and Jacy Dalinghaus combined for 21 points in the first frame.  Nemaha led 43-22 at haltime and 52-32 entering the fourth quarter.

At halftime, Macke had totaled 20 points and Dalinghaus had 11 before Nemaha hit cruise control in the final two quarters to win their 11th game in a row.  Nemaha Central made 16 of their first 20 free throws before six late misses by subs at the charity stripe and P-Ridge won the fourth quarter 12-4 to make the final scorer look closer.

Macke finished with 24 points while Dalinghaus had 13 and Ashley Larkin chipped in seven as the Thunder improved to 21-2 on the season and will return to 3A State in Hutchinson where they placed fourth a year ago.  Pleasant Ridge ends their season with a 14-9 record as Lindsey Heim scored 14 points and Julie Miller had eight in the second half after battling foul trouble, but the Rams had 21 turnovers in defeat.

Nemaha Central will begin 3A State play on Thursday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena against a familiar Big 7 League opponent in Royal Valley, who they have defeated twice this season.  That game is at 3:00 PM Thursday live on KNZA 103.9 FM.
