Sabetha Wrestlers Win Rossville Invite Leading Area Performances

Several area schools wrestling squads hit the mats on Saturday at the Rossville Invitational and the tournament was dominated by area performers. 

Sabetha Bluejays notched 164 total points to win the tournament title by 15.5 points. Fellow Big Seven League team Riverside finished just behind Sabetha earning second place as a team edging Santa Fe Trail who took third. Perry Lecompton notched a fourth place team finish, while Royal Valley posted a tenth place finish as a team. Doniphan West, Pleasant Ridge, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and ACCHS were all also in action finishing 12th, 13th, 14th and 17th as teams. 

A pair of individual first place finishes helped lead Sabetha to first place as a team at the Rossville Invitational. Kaden Dillon with a 4-0 day at 113lbs earned first place winning all four matches by pinfall in 1:25, 3:51 and 26 and 56 seconds. While, Elliott Strahm went 3-0 at 285lbs to take first place winning with a pair of quick pinfall wins and also a 7-0 decision. Both Brandon Brownlee (145lbs) and Cauy Rokey (195lbs) earned second place finishes. Brownlee went 2-1 in action registering his wins by decision 11-4 and 7-5, while Rokey posted a 3-1 recorded winning all three matches by pinfall. Third place finishes were earned by Braden Mitchell (132lbs), Kamden Brownlee (152lbs) and Walker Lowdermilk (160lbs) as they posted records of 3-1, 3-1 and 5-1, respectively. Colby Tinklin (170lbs) went 2-2 on the mats to earn fourth place. 

Riverside Cyclones had a pair of individual first place performers lead the way at the Rossville Invitational as Scott Resler and Beau Horn each took first place. Resler at 145lbs notched a 3-0 day with three pinfall wins in 2:57, 1:23 and 4:50, while Horn went 4-0 at 126lbs earning two pinfall wins (1:33 and 3:46) and two wins by major decision 15-3 and 11-0. Derrick Karn (132lbs) and Luke Horn (138lbs) both earned second place each posting 2-1 records. Karn recorded his two wins by pinfall in 45 and 52 seconds, while Horn won by pinfall 1:33 and technical fall 17-2. Jacob MacKnight (195lbs) grabbed a third place finish going 4-1 in action. Sixth place finishes were earned by Kinstin Juhl (152lbs), Brayden Seimears (160lbs), Kaedin Juhl (182lbs) going 3-2, 2-3 and 3-3, respectively. 

A second place finish by Hayden Robb (182lbs) led the Perry Lecompton Kaws at the Rossville Invitational as he posted a 2-1 record, recording his two wins by pinfall 1:03 and major decision 18-10. Thad Metcalfe (126lbs) and Kyle Bonham (285lbs) both grabbed third place finishes both going 4-1, while Braden Woodson (106lbs) and Dalton Kahle (113lbs) each earned fourth place finishes each going 2-2 on the mats. A fifth place finish was earned by Wyatt Pringle (120lbs) after a 3-2 day on the mats, while Joel Guess (145lbs) also placed fifth after going 3-2 in action and Collin Rossillon (220lbs) also earned fifth after a 3-2 day. 

Royal Valley was led by Brian Shane (285lbs) who with a 2-1 day took second place earning pinfall victory in his two wins. A fourth place finish was earned by Karsen Smith (152lbs) after going 2-2. Zach Burger (170lbs), Nathaniel Howerton (182lbs) and Judson Mathis (113lbs) all earned fifth place going 3-2, 2-2 and 2-2, respectively in action. Quo-Jon Tye (106lbs) earned sixth place. 

Three of the four Doniphan West wrestlers in action at Rossville posted sixth place or better finishes. Zeb Speer (160lbs) with a 2-1 day earned second place earning his two wins by pinfall in 2:37 and 1:13. A fourth place finish was picked up by Norman Miller (285lbs) going 2-2, while Jacob Lackey (113lbs) went 1-3 to place sixth. 

Trevor Ragland (106lbs) of Pleasant Ridge grabbed a second place finish going 1-1 recording his lone win by pinfall in 35 seconds, while Luke Oatney (138lbs) placed third behind a 3-1 day on the mats. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy was led by Benedict Humberg (160lbs) who placed fourth after a 4-2 day, while Eathan Seager (106lbs) went 2-2 to earn fifth place for the Ravens. 

ACCHS Tigers were led by Brodie Page (113lbs) as he earned a third place finish going 3-1.
