Jeff West and Onaga got the wrestling season rolling again out of the holiday break competing at the Herington Invitational. 

Fifteen teams were in action on the day and the Jeff West Tigers finished eighth as a team, while Onaga finished 14th. 

Leading the way for Jeff West was second place finish by Joel Scott going 4-1 at 152lbs. Scott earned a pair of pinfall wins in 1:23 and 40 seconds, while also winning by 4-0 and 6-2 decisions. In the Championshiph bout Scott lost a tough 5-3 decision to finish second. 

Both Kody Gibson (138lbs) and Shane Kelly (126lbs) earned third place for the Jeff West Tigers. Gibson put together a 3-1 day on the mats earning win a pair of pinfall wins (3:25 and 1:24) and won the third place match by a 10-6 decision. A 3-2 day on the mats earned Evan Davis (138lbs) a fourth place finish on the day picking up wins by pinfall in 1:42 and 2:52 along with also a 16-3 major decision win. Taelur Barnes (170lbs) earned sixth place going 1-4 in action. 

A trio of grapplers were in action for Onaga on the day with a third place finish at 182lbs leading the Buffalo performances. Kyler Schmitt earned third place going 3-2 in action with wins by DQ, major decision 11-2 and pinfall 4:35. A 1-3 showing on the mats at 152lbs earned Kedric Ames seventh place, while Vincent Lara (220lbs) was also in action. 

The wrestling season continues for Jeff West at the St. Mary's Invitational on January 12-13th and for Onaga on Saturday, January 13th at the Marysville Invitational.
