Big Seven League Volleyball Honors Handed Out

The high school volleyball season is in the rear view mirror and it was another highly competitive year in the Big Seven League with a pair of teams earning spots at the State tournament. With the season over the All-League honors have been handed out.

Nemaha Central Thunder claimed the Big Seven League title for the third year in a row finishing 15-1 in the League and 42-6 overall with a fourth place finish at Class 3A State tournament. A quartet of gals for the Thunder earned first team All-League honors. Senior, Laura Macke along with juniors, Jacy Dalinghaus, Riley Bontrager and Ashley Larkin all picked up first team All-League honors for the Thunder. 

Royal Valley Panthers finished second in the Big Seven League with a 13-3 League record and 26-12 mark on the season and had a duo earn first team All-League honors. Junior, Mary Broxterman and freshman, Ivy Fink both earned first team All-League honors. 

The Holton Wildcats finished third in the Big Seven League with a 11-5 League mark and finished 24-19 on the season with an appearance at the Class 4A-DII State tournament. Two Wildcats picked up first team All-League honors as senior, Shay Tanking and Regan Baum earned the honors, while juniors, Tabor Barta and Josie Marriott both picked up honorable mention All-League honors. 

Jeff West Tigers finished fourth in the Big Seven with a 10-6 League mark and 16-18 overall and had senior, Mariah Murdie pick up first team All-League honors. 

Rounding out the top half of the League were the Perry Lecompton Kaws who finished 9-7 in Big Seven League play to place fifth in the League and finished 23-18 overall on the year. The Kaws had a pair of gals earn first team honors as junior, Talisa Stone and sophomore, Jenna Keller got the first team nod. 

The rest of the League standings saw ACCHS finish sixth in the League (6-10, 12-19), while Sabetha seventh (6-10, 11-25), Hiawatha eighth (2-14, 2-29) and Riverside ninth (0-16, 4-29). 

ACCHS Tiger junior, Katie Beien was named first team All-League, while her teammates senior, Karlie Parnell and junior, Sara Johnson each earned honorable mention. 

For Sabetha Bluejays it was junior, Hillary Krebs and freshman, Melinna Schumann that earned first team All-League honors, while sophomore, Nikki Kuenzi picked up honorable mention honors. 

Hiawatha senior, Josie Pierce and Riverside freshman, Josephina Huff each earned honorable mention All-League honors.
