Ten Area Wrestlers & One Team Ranked by KWCA to Open Wrestling Season

KWCA Preseason Rankings - Class 3-2-1A & Class 4A

The high school wrestling season is on the horizon in weeks and plenty of top wrestlers are back in the Northeast Kansas area and to start the wrestling season 10 area wrestlers and one team are ranked in the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association preseason polls. 

After a third place finish in Class 3-2-1A last year at State the Marysville Bulldogs wrestling program enters the 2017-18 season ranked fifth in the Top 10 of Class 4A as they move up a classification this year. Leading the Bulldogs in the rankings to open the year is sophomore, Jacob Snellings who placed sixth at 106lbs last year in Class 3-2-1A and this season checks in preseason ranked third at 126lbs. Sophomore, Joey Bockin after a fourth place finish at State last year at 113lbs as a freshman in Class 3-2-1A is opens the year at 120lbs ranked fourth in Class 4A. Seniors, Gabe Capp and Seth Mooradian both will open the season ranked at 145lbs and 285lbs, respectively both ranked fourth and both coming back after appearances at State last year. 

The Class 4A preseason polls also feature two Holton Wildcats to open the wrestling season. Junior, Kyler Tannahill is set to start the season ranked second at 285lbs and comes back after a run at State last year. While Kolby Roush who also made State last year for Holton opens the year at 126lbs ranked sixth. 

Four area grapplers area set to open the season in Class 3-2-1A in the polls. A pair of Riverside Cyclones will open the year on the mats in the polls as Scott Resler and Kinstin Juhl both check into the polls. Resler who took fifth at State at 145lbs opens the year ranked third at the same weight, while Juhl opens the year ranked fifth at 152lbs coming off a State tournament appearance last year. 

Sabetha Bluejay junior, Cauy Rokey comes in ranked fourth at 182lbs to open the year in Class 3-2-1A and is coming off a sixth place finish at State last year in same weight class. 

Oskaloosa Bear senior, Jared Miller is set to start the season ranked sixth at 182lbs and is back after making State last year. 

The high school wrestling season opens up in Northeast Kansas on November 30th for a few teams and many others that weekend.
