Every year the Rim Rock Classic in Lawrence draws top runners from across the State of Kansas and a few other States and area high school competitors competed in this year's action at Rim Rock and put forth notch performances against great competition. 

The Hiawatha Red Hawks led the area performances as the lady Red Hawks earned second place as a team out of 31 in the Blue division varsity competition. Elizabeth Kettler led the lady Red Hawks finishing third place out of 239 runners in the race posting a time of 20:15.9. Four other lady Red Hawks registered Top 50 finishes on the day as Mary Rosa placed 31st (22:16.7), Jasmine Morey 37th (22:25.8), Kate Madsen 40th (22:32.3) and Emma Williams 45th (22:40.5). Madison Gilbert and Nikki Stueve also competed for the Hiawatha girls finishing 124th and 155th. 

Hiawatha boys nabbed a 16th place performance as a team out of 47 teams in the Blue varsity division race. Justin Hodge set the pace for Hiawatha with a time of 17:16.4 to earn ninth place out of 350 runners. Andrew Lierz raced to 100th place (19:25.2), while five other Red Hawk boys runners were in action. Taylor Hughes, Parker Winters, Liam Jones, Christian Shaffer and Mitch Bryan placed 136th, 148th, 151st, 177th and 221st, respectively. 

Frankfort Wildcat, Brodric Shirley put together a strong performance posting a time of 16:56.7 competing against guys from far bigger schools in the boys Crimson varsity division race and earned eighth place out of 330 runners. 

Pleasant Ridge Rams had competitors in action on the day with Luke Oatney leading the way placing 28th (18:05.9) in the Blue varsity division race. Dayton Flack posted an 82nd place finish (19:04.6), while Garret Silvers, Noah Trader, Colt Ewert and Matt Churchill raced to 117th, 28th, 287th and 330th place finishes as the Ram boys finished 30th as a team. 

Leading the Jeff West Tigers was Macy Tucker who placed 41st (22:35.7) in the girls Blue varsity race, while Makenzie Tucker took 87th (23:50.0). Sarah Sayles, Destiny Wright and Hannah Rositas also raced for the lady Tigers finishing 121st, 179th and 213th as the lady Tigers finished 20th as a team. Jeff West boys placed 47th as a team with Colin Ellis (276th), Cooper Mickens (328th), Michael Debus (341st), Michael Miller (342nd), Tyler Casto (345th) and Josh Chase (346th). 

Baylee Wolfe of Mclouth finished 52nd (23:02.9) in the girls Blue varsity race to lead the Bulldogs, while Ceara Funk finished 128th. Mclouth boys had four runners in action with Justin Shufflebager, Kody Driskill, August Forsberg and Cody Pickens placing 187th, 188th, 237th and 273rd. 

Perry Lecompton also competed at the Rim Rock Classic in Lawrence. In the girls Blue varsity race Blaise Ball, Jolie Hirsch, Sara Haggard, Emily Hamm and Dorothy Haggard finished 113th, 156th, 168th, 200th and 234th place as the lady Kaws as a team placed 31st. Kaw boys finished 36th as a team with Josh Mitts (119th), Bryce Wheeler (167th), James Bartlett (202nd), Caden Dean (206th), Josh LeClair (232nd), Reece Sollars (244th), Canaan Daniels (258th) and Jessye Schumann (323rd) all in action.
