Big Seven League squad Nemaha Central and Holton stepped out of League play and faced off with some strong competition at the Wamego volleyball Invitational on Saturday. Out of the 10 teams in competition Nemaha Central posted a 6-0 day to win the tournament and Holton went 3-3 taking fourth. 

Nemaha Central started their day with a 4-0 performance in pool play beating both Mission Valley and Rock Creek in straight sets to pick up two wins. The other two wins came against the host Wamego and Towanda-Circle and were tough grind it out three set wins. 

Holton in pool play notched a 3-1 mark to take second in their pool. The Wildcats topped William Chrisman in straight sets and won tough three set contests against Santa Fe Trail and Riley County, but fell to St. Mary's in straight sets. 

Both Big Seven League teams moved into the Semifinals and took on each other in the Semifinals and Nemaha Central earned the straight set win. That pushed the Thunder to the Championship were they took on Towanda-Circle again and this time beat them in straight sets capturing the tournament title. While Holton capped their day with a tough straight set loss to St. Mary's in the third place match.
