Hiawatha & Immaculata Boys Tennis Athletes Compete at 3-2-1A State Competition

2017 Class 3-2-1A State Boys Tennis Results -- Singles & Doubles 

Both Hiawatha and Immaculata represented the area at the 2017 Class 3-2-1A State boys tennis competition in Garden City last Friday and Saturday. 

For the Hiawatha Red Hawks Joseph Kunkel and Kyle Tollefson both competed in the singles State competition. Kunkel finished the State tournament going 2-2 on the courts after a 6-2, 6-3 win in the first round Joseph would compete in the second round were he fell 1-6, 0-6 moving into the elimination bracket. In his first elimination contest Kunkel stayed alive with a 9-5 win but was eliminated from State in the next contest with a 3-9 loss and finished the season 19-7. Tollefson went 0-2 at State falling in a pair of tough contest after falling 0-6, 1-6 in the first round Kyle pushed his next opponent to the wire but fell 8-9 (4-7) and ending his season 21-6. 

The Doubles team of Ben Lee and Michael Hollingsworth competed for Immaculata at the State competition and went 0-2 at State. In the first the Raider tandem fell 2-6, 1-6 and then in the elimination bracket suffered a 1-9 loss to end their season.
