Sabetha Boys Golf Wins Big Seven League Tournament

League competition always means tough competition and it was a highly competitive day on the links on Wednesday as Sabetha hosted the Big Seven League boys golf tournament and at the end of the day it was the host Bluejays dominating the competition. 

Behind the Top four individual scores of the day Sabetha won the Big Seven title with a four-man team score of 318 winning by 59 strokes. Nemaha Central took second place with a 377 while Jeff West earned third with a 377 team score also. Holton, Hiawatha and Royal Valley finished out the team standings in fourth through sixth with team scores of 379, 441 and 501. 

Sabetha was led by Jesse Burger who carded the best individual round on the day shooting a 77 taking first place. The Bluejays also grabbed second, third and fourth place individual finishes as David Pierson, Garrett Scott and Brendan Rokey earned those places after posting rounds of 78, 79 and 84, respectively. Reese Lierz earned seventh place for Sabetha by shooting an 86 and Noah Garber was also in action posting a 93 on the day. 

Nemaha Central on their way to second place as a team was led by Corey Nolte who finished eighth after shooting an 89. Dylan Enneking also shot an 89 on the day for the Thunder, while Eric Hammes posted a 99 and an even 100 by Dalton Schmelzle finished the Thunder's four-man team score. Corey Heiman and Billy Mitchell were both in action notching rounds of 102 and 108, respectively. 

Preston Stanley led the Jeff West Tigers earning fifth place with an 85 at the Big Seven League tournament. Cooper Mickens, Isaac Dickey and Charlie Roy finished out the Tigers team score after shooting rounds of 92, 99 and 101. Zach Murdoch and Gavin Schwinn also were in action for Jeff West shooting rounds of 103 and 109. 

The Holton Wildcats were led by AJ Haussler who finished sixth placed behind an 85. Austin Shepley and Ryan Taylor each shot rounds of 94 and 98, respectively while a 102 by Riley Shepley finished out the Wildcats team score. Rafe Folk also was in action for Holton carding a 132. 

Hiawatha Red Hawks were led by Tom Nolte at the Big Seven League competition posting a score of 103. Caden Lillie, Keenan Hinton, Blake Gromley, Lukas Holladay and Jace Grubb were all also in action for the Red Hawks posting rounds of 106, 114, 118, 121 and 122. 

Royal Valley had four competitors in action on Wednesday and were led by Corey Humpert who shot a 94. Charlotte Rooks, Max Hennis and Sheldon Hess posted rounds of 128, 134 and 145 for the Panthers. 

Perry Lecompton had a trio of golfers in action as Nick Maloun, Trevor Cunningham-Henry and Christjen Schmidt shot rounds of 112, 120 and 124. 

All the Big Seven golfers now turn their attention Regionals coming up on Monday, May 15th.
