Jeff West, Perry Lecompton, Holton, JCN & Jackson Heights Compete at Seaman Track Invite

Three area teams took on some competition from higher classifications on Friday as Jeff West, Perry Lecompton, Holton and Jackson Heights continued their track seasons at the Bob Camien-Claudia Welch Invite at Seaman high school in Topeka. 

In the girls side of competition out of 20 teams Jeff West placed tenth, while Jackson Heights was 14th and Perry Lecompton 17th. Holton had the best area boy’s team finish as the Wildcats finished 13th out of 21 teams, while Perry Lecompton placed 14th and Jefferson County North 19th. 

The Jeff West Tigers were led by the performance of Mariah Murdie who won the girls triple jump with a leap of 37'04 and earned second place in the 100 meter hurdles. Both Jordan Hawman and Alyssa Garza each added a fifth place performance for the Tigers in the girl’s 200 meter dash and discus, respectively. 

Holton Wildcat, Mason Strader performed strong on Friday as he won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:28.02 and took fifth in the 800 meter run. While the Wildcat boys 4x400 meter relay team earned a bronze medal on the day. 

Perry Lecompton saw their boys 4x400 meter relay team post a time of 3:29.06 to take first place, while in the girls competition Talisa Stone and Abbi Folks each earned a fourth place finishes in the high jump and triple jump, respectively. 

Jackson Heights Cobras were led by the performance of Faith Little who raced to second place in the 800 meter run, finishing less than a second behind the winner and also took fourth in the 1600 meter run. Lady Cobras 4x400 meter relay also earned a third place performance on the day.
