Vermillion Boys Golf Wins Centralia Invite

Area teams hit the links on a windy Monday at the Centralia Invite and it was Vermillion leading the way for the performances of area golfers. 

Vermillion posted a four-man team score of 359 to win the competition by over 60 strokes as the Top four Vermillion golfers carded four of the Top five best individual rounds of the day out of the 44 golfers in action. Onaga took second place as team finishing just one-stroke ahead of Sabetha with a team score of 424, while the Bluejays took third with a 425 score. Valley Heights and Royal Valley finished out the team standings in fourth and fifth with team scores of 433 and 469. Holton, Linn, Washington County and Hanover all had golfers in action also on the day. 

Leading the way for Vermillion on the day was Jason Gore who behind a score of 84 earned first place at the tournament. While, Brandon Bussman, Josh Tynon and Spencer Dressman finished out the four-man team score for Vermillion posting rounds of 89, 91 and 95 to earn third, fourth and fifth place individually. Austin Hardwick and Brandon Anderson also earned Top 10 performances as Hardwick tied for sixth after shooting a 96 and a 97 earned Anderson 10th place. 

Holton Wildcat, AJ Haussler had the second best individual round on the day only one-stroke out of first place finishing with an 85 to earn second place. 

Linn Bulldog, Chase McGatlin, along with Washington County Tiger, Evan Ouellette and Royal Valley Panther, Corey Humpert led their respective teams at the Centralia Invite as the all shot a 96 and tied for sixth place with Hardwick of Vermillion.
