Holton Girls & Boys Win ACCHS Track Invite

ACCHS Track Invite Full Results (4-11-17) - Girls & Boys

Several area teams continued their track seasons on Tuesday as ACCHS hosted 10 schools in competitive track meet. 

The Holton Wildcats at the end of the day earned first place on the girls and boys side as teams. Lady Wildcats posted 100 total points to take first just seven points ahead of Hiawatha who placed second. Maur Hill-Mount Acadmey, McLouth and Oskaloosa finished out the girls Top five team finishes placing third, fourth and fifth. Rounding out the girls teams finishes were ACCHS in sixth, Valley Falls seventh, Horton eighth, Doniphan West ninth, Riverside tenth and Kickapoo 11th.

Holton boys won a bit easier than the girls as they scored 118 points and won the team title by 43 points. Second place was a tie between Hiawatha and Maur Hill-Mount Academy who each registered 75 points on the day, while McLouth was just one point behind in fourth and Oskaloosa finished out the Top five boys team finishes. Rounding out the boys team finishes were Riverside in sixth, Horton seventh, ACCHS eighth, Valley Falls ninth, Doniphan West tenth and Kickapoo 11th. 

On their way to first place as a team for the girls and boys the Holton Wildcats had eight individual event wins on the day. In the boys action Mason Strader won both the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:03.97 and 4:36.83, while in the girl’s competition Courtney Boswell took first in the 300 meter hurdles (50.69) and with a leap of 31'07 won the triple jump. The Holton boys also took first in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 44.92 and 3:36.47, while Brandon Lehnherr won the shot put behind a toss of 44'08.50 and the lady Wildcats won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 54.34.

Hiawatha Red Hawks were led by two first place finishes for Cariann Kunkel won won the high jump (5'5) and javelin (111'11), while the girl’s 4x800 meter relay (10:25.99) team took first and Elizabeth Kettler won the 1600 meter run (5:38.70). In the boys action Gavin Lierz won the 300 meter hurdles (41.20) and Laim Jones earned first place in the 3200 meter run (11:42.74), while the 4x800 meter relay also took first with a time of 9:20.56.  

Six first place finishes were garnered by McLouth athletes on the day with both Mystikal Randel and Dimitri Tullis each winning two events. Randel won the boys javelin and discus with throws of 141'10 and 127'10. While Tullis leap to marks of 20'03.75 and 44'04 to take first in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. For the McLouth girls Ceara Funk won the 3200 meter run (13:31.70) and Maggie Wise earned the gold in the pole vault (7'00) 

John Tarwater earned first place in the boys 110 meter hurdles (16.91) and high jump (5'10) for the Oskaloosa Bears, while Eli Tarwater won the boys pole vault (9'06). On the girls side of competition Alexi Adams won the 400 meter dash (1:02.53), while Jaden Courter won both the discus and shot put with throws of 100'06 and 37'02.25. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy had their day highlighted by a first place finish for the girls 4x400 meter relay (4:31.14) team along with a first place finish for Heather Ronnebaum in the 800 meter run (2:36.59) and the boys Thrower's relay team took first (53.36). 

The host ACCHS Tigers were led on the day by Kayla Vesser who sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.74 and 27.32, while the girls Throwers relay team took first (1:06.24).

Riverside, Valley Falls and Doniphan West all had one individual earn at least one first place finish on the day. For Riverside Tre'nez Wilkinson dashed his way to gold in the 100 (11.03), 200 (22.64) and 400 meter dashes (51.47). Valley Falls Dragon, Sway Schmelzle won the girls long jump (15'02), while Doniphan West Mustang, Shayna Wilson earned first place in the girls 100 meter hurdles (17.21).
