MH-MA Swim Takes First at Washington Invitational

The Maur Hill-Mount Academy swim team opened up its season Tuesday night with a first place finish in the Washington Invitational behind five first place finishes. The win also marked the first time in five years the Ravens swim team took first place at a meet.

Three individual golds led the way for the Ravens on the day with Lexi Griffin claiming the 100 yard breaststroke, Echo Growney winning the 50 yard freestyle and Mallory Panchot claiming gold in the 100 yard fly.

The team of Griffin, Growney, Greta Schuele and Haylie Folsom also claimed gold in the 400 yard free relay, while Lora Waters, Caeli Haigh, Rachel Olberding and Kylee Stec teamed up to take the open 200 yard free relay.

The Ravens also earned six silver medals in the meet. The team of Folsom, Griffin, Growney and Maggie Burcham took second in the 200 yard medley relay, while MHMA also claimed individual silvers in the 200 yard freestyle (Stec), 200 individual medley (Panchot), 100 yard free (Folsom) and in the 500 free and 100 fly (Bell).

The Raven swim team will next be in action Thursday, April 7 at Washington with the meet scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
