Twin Valley League Athletes Highlight Sunflower Shootout All-Star Games

The seventh annual Sunflower Shootout basketball All-Star games took place on Saturday and eight Twin Valley League seniors helped the girls and boys North Central Kansas teams earn wins over the Mid-Continent League teams at Smith Center high school. 

The NCK girls team established an 11-point lead by halftime going up 33-22 and cruised to the win 86-68 with 1A-DI State Champion Hanover Wildcat, Riley Doebele pacing the way for the NCK All-Stars netting 16 points. Washington County Tiger, Jenna Hennerberg and Linn Bulldog, Karsyn Smith were right behind each notching double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively. One other Tiger and Bulldog participated in the contest as Kaitlyn Ohlde of Linn and Annie Otott of Washington County each tallied one point. 

Tatum Bartels of Phillipsburg led the MCK All-Stars with a game-high 17 points in the girls contest. 

In the boys the NCK squad blasted past the MCL All-Stars leading 62-33 at the half and cruised to the 123-98 win. While, Davis Dubbert of St. John's-Tipton led the NCK All-Stars with 25 points three TVL guys contributed to the win with two netting double figures. 1A-DI State Champion Hanover Wildcat, Michael Jueneman scored 16 points and Washington County Tiger, Dawson Miller chipped in 12 points. Linn Bulldog, Chase McGatlin tallied five points in the game. 

Landon Portor led the MCL All-Star teams posting 25 points.
