Following the conclusion of the 2016-17 High School Basketball season the Topeka Capital Journal and Varsity Kansas (Wichita Eagle) have released the All State Selections. Thirteen area girls and seven area boys were named among the best in their respective classes following a year when 10 area teams made the state tournament with seven those placing in the fop four and four making the championship games!  The Hanover girls and boys won Class 1A-DI State titles, Marysville boys won 3A State title, Jeff West girls finished second in 4A-DII, Centralia girls placed third in 1A-DI, Nemaha Central girls placed fourth in 3A and Valley Falls placed fourth in 2A.
