Marysville boy's basketball is at State for the first time in 14 years and will have an opportunity to do something they accomplished in 2003 that is win a State title. Bulldogs have that opportunity after topping Belle Plaine in the Class 3A State tournament Semifinals winning 68-35.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start and behind the hands of Gabe Pieschl were in control early leading 18-8 after the first quarter and posted a 21-10 second quarter to lead 39-18 at the half. Pieschl netted 25 points in the first half for Marysville. Marysville continue to roll the lead out further with a 15-6 third quarter and put it in cruise control for the rest of the game to earn the 68-35 win.
Pieschl finished with 29 points in the game going 11-17 from the floor, while Bryson Meinhardt finished 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Bulldogs shot 49.1% from the field for the contest, while out-rebounding Belle Plaine 44-16 and having a 15-1 second chance points favor.
The win moves Marysville to 21-4 on the season and into the 3A State title game where they will play for their third State title on Saturday, March 11th against Cheney.
