The final week of the regular season of high school basketball is here and teams are looking for a win or two to set themselves up with a bit of momentum headed into Sub-State. The KBCA has released its latest set of rankings and 15 area teams remain ranked this week.

Class 2A houses the most area teams in the polls this week again with five between the girls and boys. In the girls 2A polls the Valley Falls girls come in at #6 again this week and are 15-3 on the season after wins over Jackson Heights and Immaculata last week and are riding an eight-game winning streak. Out of the Twin Valley League the Washington County Tigers girls come in ranked #8 again and are 15-3 on the season after a win over Linn last week. The Jefferson County North lady Chargers out of the Northeast Kansas League with Valley Falls are ranked again this week too and are up one spot to #9 in the 2A polls. The Chargers are 16-2 on the season after picking up wins over Pleasant Ridge and Maur Hill-Mount Academy last week. On the boys side of the Class 2A polls the Troy Trojans and Jefferson County North Chargers both remain ranked checking in at #5 and #10 this week. Troy moved up one spot after picking up a tough road win at Onaga and cruising past Blue Valley-Randolph to move to 17-2 on the year. While JCN sits at 15-3 on the season and fell two spots in the polls after a 1-1 week beating Pleasant Ridge but falling in tough five-point game to Maur Hill.

Both Class 3A and 1A-Division I have four area teams in the polls again this week. In 3A on the boys side three teams from the same Sub-State rank #5, #6 and #7, while one area girls’ team remains ranked. Marysville boys moved up one spot to #5 this week after splitting with Chapman last week and beating Centralia to move to 15-4 on the year. Nemaha Central boys are up one spot in the rankings too now at #6 with a 16-3 record on the year with wins over Hiawatha and Riverside last week; the Thunder have won seven in a row. Maur Hill-Mount Academy has won nine in a row to sit at 16-3 on the season and jumped up two spots to #7 in the rankings this week beating JCN and McLouth last week. On the girls side the lady Thunder of Nemaha Central fell four spots to #9 after beating Riverside last week and suffering a loss to Hiawatha moving them to 16-3 on the year.

Class 1A-DI has had the same area teams in the polls a good portion of the season. On the girls side the lady Panthers of Centralia continue to hold down the #1 spot as they have all year. With wins over Marysville and St. Mary's last week the Panthers are now 18-1 on the season and have won seven-straight. The Hanover girls continue to hold down the #3 spot in the rankings and have a 16-2 record on the year picking up wins over Onaga and Clifton-Clyde last week to extend their win streak to nine-straight games. The boy’s poll continues to feature Hanover and Doniphan West at #3 and #6, respectively this week. The Hanover boys snagged wins over Onaga and Clifton-Clyde last week to improve to 16-2 on the year, while Doniphan West sits at 12-8 on the season after a win over Axtell.

A pair of Big Seven League girls teams continue to be ranked high in Class 4A-Division II as the Holton and Jeff West girls check in at #3 and #4 again this week. The lady Wildcats are 15-3 on the season after picking up a win against ACCHS last week. While Jeff West moved to 14-4 on the year after beating Sabetha and Royal Valley last week.

Teams look to close out the regular season on a high note with a win or two this week and then turn their attention to Sub-State which is set to start next week. The final KBCA rankings will be released next Monday before Sub-State play starts.
