The Atchison Redmen wrestlers wrapped up the regular season on Thursday night competing at the KCAL Tournament and took third place. 

Racking up 62 total points on the day Atchison took third place of the six teams in the KCAL at the League wrestling competition. 

Seven wrestlers hit the mats at the League meet for Atchison and the Redmen were led by Collin Moranz (160lbs) and Gio Burk (170lbs) who each earned first place finishes. Moranz posted a 2-0 day with a 12-10 decision win and a pinfall win in 50 seconds to take first place at 160lbs, while Burk went 3-0 with three pinfall wins in 1:02 and twice in 37 seconds. 

Jayden Watkins earned second place with a 3-1 showing on the mats at 120lbs picking up all three of his victories via pinfal in 43 seconds, 2:57 and 3:11. 

The other four wrestlers in action for Atchison at the KCAL Tournament all took third place in their weight class. Riley Smith took third after a 2-2 at 220lbs with a pinfall win in 1:25 and a 1-0 decision victory, while both Gavin Rebant (126lbs) and Nick Funk (285lbs) each posted 1-2 days on the mats to take third. Rebant notched his win by pinfall in 3:02, while Funk also won by pin in 2:19. Caleb Pierce was also in action for Atchison and took third place at 195lbs but went 0-2 in action. 

The Redmen now turn their attention to Regionals coming up on February 17th and 18th as they will compete at the 4A Regional hosted by Santa Fe Trail.
