KBCA High School Basketball Rankings Jan. 23rd - 12 Area Teams

Basketball season continued over the past week with mid-season tournament for several area teams and plenty of great games all-around and now with a new week the new KBCA rankings have been released. Only 12 teams find themselves in the rankings this week with a few area teams falling out of the polls. 

Class 1A-Division I continues to remain the class with the most area teams in the rankings with two in the girls poll and two in the boys rankings. After capturing their third straight and 12th in school Twin Valley League tournament title the Centralia Panther girls are 11-0 on the season and remain ranked #1 in class 1A-DI. Hanover Wildcat girls took third place in the TVL tournament falling in the Semifinals to Washington County, but responding with a win over Wetmore in the third place game to move to 8-2 on the year and ranks #5 this week down two spots. On the boys side of the 1A-DI polls Hanover ranks #3 down one spot and are 8-2 after winning the TVL tournament title for the sixth time in school history. Doniphan West boys moved up two spots to #8 in the rankings and sit at 7-5 on the season after going 2-2 in the TVL tournament to take fourth place. 

Class 2A features three area teams with the Jefferson County North girls leading the way coming at #5 again this week as they are 8-0 on the season and were idle last week and now host their own mid-season tournament this week. The Valley Falls girls also idle last week moved up one spot in the polls to #8 and are 6-2 on the season and will partake in the JCN Invite this week. On the boys side the Troy Trojans fell down two spots in the rankings to #6 with an 8-1 record after taking second at the TVL Tournament falling to Hanover in the title game. 

Nemaha Central girls and boys, along with Marysville boys continue to highlight the Class 3A KBCA polls for the area. The lady Thunder snagged a Big Seven League win over Perry Lecompton last week to move to 9-1 on the season and move up one spot to #5 in the 3A polls this week. The Thunder boys took second place in their annual mid-season tournament and now sit at 9-3 on the season and #7 in the polls down three spots after falling to Marysville in the Championship game of the tournament. Marysville boys claimed the Thunder Classic Championship topping Nemaha Central in the title game to improve to 10-2 on the season and moved up one spot to #2 in the rankings. 

Class 4A-Division II polls continue to house a pair of girls Big Seven League teams in Holton and Jeff West. The lady Wildcats of Holton moved up one spot to #3 in the rankings as they sit at 10-2 on the season taking second at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational. Jeff West girls took fourth at the Tonganoxie Invitational last week and sit at 8-3 on the year now and ranked #8 falling five spots in the rankings. 

The basketball season continues this week with a pair of mid-season girl's tournaments and more regular season action for teams.
