The 2017 Twin Valley League tournament wrapped up on Saturday and it was another action packed year with great performances from the consolation games to the Championships. Full recap of the final days action below, along with the 92.1 KMZA All-TVL Tournament team honors.

Girls 

#3 Washington County vs. #1 Centralia -- Centralia won 61-50 (Championship)

For the 12th time in the 21 year history of the Twin Valley League tournament the Centralia lady Panthers brought home the tournament Championship claiming the title over this year's host Washington County with a 61-50 win. It was the Tigers that pounced early in the game working out to a 13-5 lead through midway in the first quarter but Centralia mounted a 8-0 to tie the game with 1:15 in the first but the Panthers trailed 15-13 after one. Centralia snagged their first lead at 18-17 shortly into the second quarter and outscored Washington 11-2 over the first couple of minutes in the second quarter behind the hot hand of Katie Glatczak who netted 14 first half points. The Panthers went into the half up 27-24 and in the second half pushed the lead over the Tigers to double figures but Washington made runs to stay in the contest only to see the Panthers finish the game off. 

Centralia was led by Glatczak who finished with 30 points hitting five three-pointers and going 5-6 from the line, while Cassidy Haufler posted 17 points, getting 14 in the second half. The duo of Glatczak and Haufler earned Community National Bank "Players to Bank On" honors on KMZA and helped Centralia move to 11-0 on the season and 3-0 at the tournament, winning their 34th consecutive game and 12th TVL tournament title, third-straight. The loss is only the second of the season for Washington falling to 9-2 on the season and going 2-1 in tournament action as Holly Delay scored 16 points to lead them and Tess Cecrle added 11 points. 

#5 Wetmore vs. #2 Hanover -- Hanover won 59-22 (3rd place game)

A hot start early by Hanover lead to the Wildcats taking control of the game against Wetmore and ultimately a third place finish in the TVL Tournament with a 59-22 win. The Wildcats led 16-5 after the first quarter and added to that lead with an 18-6 second quarter, while Wetmore in the first had their top two scorers in Dakota McQueen and Jill Henry get in foul trouble. Hanover finished the game with a 17-4 fourth quarter to seal the win and improve their record to 8-2 overall going 2-1 at the tournament. Macy Doebele led Hanover scoring 17 points, while Tianna Lohse scored 13 points. The loss puts Wetmore at 6-5 on the season and gives them a fourth place finish in the tournament going 2-2 in action, as Jill Henry led the team in the loss with seven points. 

#7 Frankfort vs. #4 Linn -- Frankfort won 57-45 (5th place game) 

After a slow start to the tournament offensively the Frankfort Wildcats finish the TVL Tournament with a pair of strong offensive performances including a 57-45 win over Linn to take fifth place in the tournament. The Wildcats were scorching hot early hitting their first five threes of the game, going 7-10 from outside the arc in the first half and spread the scoring around going up 22-8 after just the first quarter and led 32-17 by halftime. Linn didn't go away as the Bulldogs posted an 18-11 third quarter to get within single digits but the Wildcats made the plays needed to secure the win. Kennan Brandt led Frankfort with a season-high 16 points earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA, while Emilee Ebert tallied 14 points and Jessa Yaussi chipped in 12 points, helping Frankfort finish the tournametn 3-1 in action and 8-5 on the season. Linn with the loss fell to 7-4 on the year and went 2-2 at the tournament and were led by Shelby Ohlde in the loss with 16 points, while Kaitlin Ohlde scored 11 points. 

#8 Doniphan West vs. #6 Clifton-Clyde -- Clifton-Clyde won 54-39 (7th place game) 

A tight ballgame in the first half was not so much in the second half as a 20-9 third quarter propelled Clifton-Clyde to a 54-39 win over Doniphan West and a seventh place finish in the TVL Tournament. Doniphan West started the game with a 15-10 first quarter and went into the half up on the Eagles but only by one-point, 25-24. The second half belonged to Clifton-Clyde with that strong third guiding them to their eighth win of the season as they improved to 8-6 and went 2-2 in the tournament. Jaysie Bowser led Clifton-Clyde with 16 points, while Emily Coffman added 13 points for the Eagles. In the loss Doniphan West was led by Kirsten Huss who netted 14 points, as the Mustangs fell to 4-8 on the season, going 1-3 in the tournament. 

#10 Valley Heights vs. #8 Blue Valley -- Valley Heights won 55-35 (Consolation game)

After an opening round loss on a buzzer beater Valley Heights bounced back and closed the TVL Tournament out going 2-1 in games played winning a pair of consolation games including a 55-35 win over Blue Valley. Mustangs led just 12-10 after the first quarter but a 19-7 second quarter gave Valley Heights a 31-17 lead at halftime as Kayla Smith scored 11 points in the second quarter for the Mustangs. Smith and company went on to grab the win and Kayla had a 31 point performance, while Sam Vermetten added 10 points and Valley Heights moved to 4-7 on the season. Blue Valley with the loss is now 3-7 on the season and the Rams finished the tournament 1-2; Allie Cassel led the Rams in the loss with eight points. 

#12 Axtell vs. #11 Troy -- Axtell 43-32 

Axtell Eagles played a tight first round game against Wetmore but came up short falling to the consolation games were they snagged a pair of wins to build some confidence as they topped Troy 43-32 on Saturday. Eagles flew out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter but Troy answered with an 11-3 second to only trail 21-15 at the half. Eagles moved the lead back up with a 12-7 third and went to finish the game off to move to 3-8 on the season going 2-1 in tournament with Anna Buessing led the charge in the win over Troy scoring 22 points. Troy in the loss was led by Lexi Norris who posted 12 points, while Blair Weishaar added 10 points as the Trojans fell to 1-8 on the season going 0-3 in the tournament. 

Boys

#2 Hanover vs. #1 Troy -- Hanover won 76-67 (Championship) 

Top two seeds made it to the TVL Tournament Championship and put on a show in a rematch from earlier in the season when Troy topped Hanover then but the Wildcats got a bit of revenge coming back from a 10-point deficit to win 76-67. The win gives Hanover their sixth TVL Tournament title and fifth in the last seven years, also making them have the most TVL Tournament titles of any League boys team. Hanover got up 8-4 with 4:06 to play in the first when Troy called a timeout and then the Trojans fell behind by five but bounced back to lead 18-16 after one. The lead continued to grow for Troy in the second quarter as Cuttar Huss put on a first half scoring show netting 27 points in the first half including a dunk and helped his team lead 44-34 at halftime over Troy. 

The Trojans did get in foul trouble something that plagued them in the game as three starters fouled out of the contest and Hanover shot 42 free throws. Hanover went on the run in the third quarter getting within three, two and then one-point by the end of the third quarter but Troy did enough to still hold a lead, 52-51 entering the fourth. One minute into the fourth Hanover tied the game at 54-54 and then took their first lead with 6:47 left in the game at 56-54 and went on to use a 25-15 fourth quarter and 32-42 performance from the charity stripe to secure the win. Hanover with the victory went 3-0 in the tournament and improved to 8-2 on the year and was led by Will Bruna and Michael Jueneman in the Championship as they scored 27 and 25 points, respectively to earn Community National Bank "Players to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Jueneman went 18-20 from the line himself in the game, while Bruna was 8-10 from the charity stripe. The loss is the first of the season for Troy as they fall to 8-1 on the year and went 2-1 in the tournament, while Huss led them in the loss with 33 points and Wil Smith and Brody Winder each finished with nine points. 

#5 Doniphan West vs. #3 Onaga -- Onaga won 57-43 (3rd place game) 

Tied at 6-6 early Onaga scored the next six to lead 12-6 in the first quarter and was up 14-8 over Doniphan West. Onaga grew that lead out with an 18-8 second quarter led by eight points from Ben Kufahl in the frame and the Buffaloes carried their largest lead of the game into halftime up 32-16. Doniphan West's struggles continued in the second half and Onaga continued their offensive efficiency spreading out the scoring with six different guys finishing with seven or more points to take them to the win. The win moves Onaga to 8-4 on the season and the Buffaloes went 3-1 in the tournament, while Doniphan West fell to 7-5 and went 2-2 in the tourney. Logan Marten led Onaga on the day with 12 points and earned Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors, while Luke Marten scored 10 points. Doniphan West was led by Newt Smith who tallied 13 points his third double figure game in the tournament and Luke Blevins added 12 points his best game of the year.

#10 Clifton-Clyde vs. #4 Valley Heights -- Valley Heights won 63-55 (5th place game) 

A balanced scoring attack with five guys hitting eight points or more helped guide Valley Heights to a win to finish the TVL tournament and take fifth place behind a 63-55 win over Clifton-Clyde. Clifton-Clyde went up 7-5 in the first two minutes of the game but Valley Heights answered and led 24-16 after the first quarter. The lead went up to double figures in the second quarter for the Mustangs and going it halftime Clifton-Clyde trailed 38-27. Eagles came out of halftime and hit a pair of early three's and with 5:24 in the third had closed the lead to just four points, but Valley Heights answered and held their largest lead at the end of the third up 49-34. Clifton-Clyde got within single digits again in the fourth and hung tough but behind 12-18 from the free throw line in the second half Valley Heights secured the win. Valley Heights finished the tournament with a 3-1 mark and 8-4 overall record and were led by Bryan Yungeberg who scored 20 points, hitting four three's earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Adrian Pishny added 12 points for the Mustangs and Jeremy Reed scored nine. Clifton-Clyde was led by Matt Barnes who scored 21 points, while Zach Sorell chipped in 12 points and the Eagles fell to 5-9 on the season and went 2-2 in the tournament. 

#8 Centralia vs. #6 Washington County -- Centralia won 63-50 (7th place game) 

A quartet of double figures led the balanced attack for Centralia as they closed out the TVL tournament going 2-2 in tournament play taking seventh place behind a 63-50 win over Washington County. Panthers carried only a 25-24 lead into the half over Washington County and added to the lead in the second half extending with a 17-11 third and then finishing the game with a 21-15 fourth and using a 19-26 day from the line to help them to the win. The win moves Centralia to 6-6 on the season as Alec Duryea led the way with 16 points, while Kamble Haverkamp scored 12 points, Daegan Steinlage added 11 points and Bryson Johnson netted 10 points. The loss for Washington County sends them to 6-6 on the season while going 1-3 in the tournament. Levi Gauby led Washington County in the loss scoring 16 points while going 12-17 from the free throw line and Carson Talkington added 14 points. 

#12 Blue Valley vs. #7 Linn -- Linn won 75-58 (Consolation Game) 

Five guys in double figures and a solid performance from the free throw line led Linn to a win over Blue Valley 75-58 in consolation play in the TVL Tournament. The Bulldogs doubled up the Rams 20-10 after just the first quarter and led 38-27 at the half. Linn cemented the game firmly in their favor behind a 19-9 third quarter and secured the win. With the win Linn improved to 6-4 on the season and finished the TVL tournament 2-1. Chase McGatlin led Linn over Blue Valley with 20 points, while Evan Bott and Andrew Meyer each scored 13 points and Dillon Cooper posted 10 points. Blue Valley with the loss finished 0-3 in the tournament and sit at 0-11 on the year. In the loss the Rams were led by Bradley Young who scored 21 points hitting six three's, while Bryson Brockman tallied 17 points and Lane Peter added 14 points. 

#11 Wetmore vs. #9 Frankfort -- Frankfort won 59-35 (Consolation Game) 

Looking to close out the TVL Tournament with a win Frankfort and Wetmore faced off and it was tight early with Frankfort leading 12-11 after the first quarter. Wildcats took control of the game with a 14-7 second quarter and then posted a 19-8 third quarter and 33-18 second half overall to earn the win. Frankfort finished the tournament 1-2 and is 5-7 on the season, while Wetmore is not 1-9 on the year and went 0-3 in the tournament. The Wildcats were led by Mitchell Olson who scored 13 points, while Austin Hardwick scored 12 points and Adam Kenworthy posted 11 points. Wetmore was led in the loss by Joel Hutfles and Alex Potter who both scored 11 points.
