KBCA High School Basketball Rankings Dec. 12th - 12 Area Teams

Now a full week plus in the books for the high school basketball season across the State of Kansas and the action is heating with a few more games to come before the holiday break. The KBCA has released its latest set of rankings and this week 12 area teams find themselves in the polls. 

Class 3A and 1A-Division I find themselves with four area teams in the rankings this week between the girls and boys polls, while 2A has a pair of boy’s teams and 4A-Division II has a pair of girls teams in the rankings. 

A pair of #1 rankings continue to belong to two Twin Valley League teams in Class 1A-Division I as the Centralia girls and Hanover boys each remain ranked first in the 1A-DI Top 10. Centralia girls are off to a 3-0 to the season with 61-31 win over Wetmore and 53-36 win over Axtell last week, while the Hanover girls come in at #3 in the 1A-DI girl’s rankings again this week beating Troy 64-20 and Axtell 74-35 last week to sit at 3-0 on the season. The Hanover boys are off to just a 1-2 to the year but won 90-30 against Axtell last week and lost to Troy 74-63; the Wildcats two losses have come the currently fourth and fifth ranked team in Class 2A. Centralia Panther boys also continue remain ranked in Class 1A-DI coming in at #5 again this week after a 3-0 start to the year behind balanced scoring beating Wetmore 63-53 and Axtell 83-43 last week. 

In Class 3A the Marysville Bulldog boys have jumped up to #2 in the polls up three spots after starting the season 3-0, snagging a 58-37 win over Clay Center last week. The Nemaha Central boys remain ranked in the 3A polls this week but fall two spots to #8 with a 2-1 record going 1-1 last week with a win 60-27 win over ACCHS, but a 48-45 loss at Holton. The 3A girl’s rankings feature Sabetha again this week and fellow Big Seven League member, Nemaha Central jumps into the poll this week. The Bluejays are up two spots to #3 starting the season 4-0 with a 44-31 win over Perry Lecompton and 32-18 victory over ACCHS last week. Nemaha Central is off to a 3-0 start to the year picking up a 44-19 win over ACCHS last week along with a win over 4A-DII ranked Holton 53-51 and jump into the polls this week at #10. 

Both the Troy Trojan boys and Jackson Heights boys remain ranked in the Class 2A polls this week with one team moving up and the other down in the poll. Troy moved up one spot to #4 in the rankings after starting the season 2-0 beating Doniphan West 80-51 and topping a 1A-DI ranked Hanover 74-63. The Jackson Heights Cobras suffered a 44-41 loss to Maur Hill-Mount Academy in their lone game last week to move to 1-1 on the year and fell two spots in the poll to #10. 

A pair of Big Seven League teams remain ranked in the girls 4A-DII rankings as Holton and Jeff West both remain in the Top 10 but both move down in the rankings. The Holton girls are off to a 2-1 start beating Royal Valley 64-41 last week but falling to Nemaha Central 53-51 and fell two spots in the rankings to #7. While Jeff West fell three spots in the rankings to #10 and sit at 2-1 on the season after a 64-25 win over Riverside and 49-33 win over Wamego last week. 

The season rolls along this week with a full slate of games for area teams as the holiday break approaches.
