The Jeff West Tigers volleyball battled all season and on Saturday continued that competing in Sub-State action hosted by Holton and the Tigers pounced on a Sub-State title and bid to the Class 4A-Division II State tournament for the first time since 2013.

Getting to the State tournament definitely wasn't easy for Jeff West as they faced off against Rock Creek in the Semifinals of the Sub-State tournament at Holton and needed three sets to earn the win and stay alive in the postseason. After losing set one 20-25 the Tigers bounced back and won the next two sets in tight fashion winning 25-22, 25-21 to take the match in three sets. That set up a match up with fellow Big Seven League foe and host of the Sub-State, Holton. The Tigers had taken two of three over the Wildcats during the regular season and Jeff West was truimphant again against Holton on Saturday in the Sub-State Championship winning in two tight straight sets 25-21, 25-23.

The win pushes Jeff West to 22-15 on the season and back to the State tournament for the first time since 2013 when the Tigers went 0-3 that season at State. The Class 4A-DII State tournament is set to start on Friday, October 28th and the Tigers will hit the court in the morning session in Salina with pool play to starting the State competition at 8:30am vs. Holcomb, 11:30am vs. Baxter Springs and 12:30pm vs. Nickerson.
