Only two weeks remain in the regular season season high school football in the state of Kansas and the race for a playoff spot is heating up. Entering week eight of action eight area teams are in at least one set of rankings across the State.

Class 2-1A continues to be the classification that houses several area teams in the rankings matter of fact four area teams are in at least one poll in 2-1A. That includes the team that has been ranked #1 all season in the 7-0 Troy Trojans who won the Twin Valley League 11-Man title last week with a 20-6 win over Washington County and are ranked #1 in the polls across the State. The Trojans opponent this week in the Jefferson County North Chargers checks in ranked #5 in four polls this week (Kansasprepfootball.com, VarsityKansas, Topeka-Capital Journal and CatchitKansas) as they are 7-0 on the year after beating Doniphan West 22-7 last week. The TVL teams of Washington County and Valley Heights continue to remain in rankings this week also. The Tigers are 5-2 on the season after falling to Troy this past week and rank #5 by Kpreps and #6 in the CatchitKansas Top 10 and host Wabaunsee this week, while Valley Heights in that same District with Washington County is 6-1 this year after beating Jackson Heights 26-22 last week. The Mustangs are ranked #6 by CatchitKansas in 2-1A and they travel to Centralia this week.

Just like Troy the Hanover Wildcats have been ranked #1 all season across the board in the polls as the Wildcats sit #1 again this week in 8-Man Division II. Hanover improved to 6-0 on the season last week with a 54-8 win over Frankfort, but have a tough task this week with Wakefield on the road.

The 8-Man Division I rankings continue to see Clifton-Clyde receive attention as the Eagles are 6-1 on the season after a 51-20 win over Centre and now take on Onaga this week to finish District play for themselves this season.

Class 3A all year has had both Nemaha Central and Sabetha flirting with breaking into several polls and this week both are ranked in at least one poll. For the Thunder after beating rival Sabetha 20-14 to remain unbeaten at 7-0 they are now ranked #5 by Kpreps and Topeka-Capital Journal, while ranking #6 in the Top 10 by CatchitKansas. Sabetha fell to 6-1 on the season with the loss to Nemaha Central and come in ranked #7 in the CatchitKansas Top 10 3A poll.

The Atchison Redmen suffered their first loss of the year this past week falling 22-16 to Tonganoxie in overtime and move to 6-1 and only remain in one ranking coming in at #4 by CatchitKansas in Class 4A-Division I. Redmen have a big District game against Basehor-Linwood this week.
