Postseason play got underway in legion baseball on Sunday at the senior legion level as the AA Zone Tournament at Sabetha got rolling with a pair of first round games.

Marysville took down Linn in the first 14-1 in four innings, while Silver Lake topped Sabetha 14-7 moving both winning teams into the Semifinals; both Linn and Sabetha now move to the consolation bracket.

The action started rolling for Marysville early as they jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning against Linn and didn't look back scoring five runs in the second and seven runs in the fourth. Marysville capitalized on eight Linn errors and added eight hits and six free passes to plate their 14 runs in the 14-1 four inning win. Trey Loshe tossed all four innings giving up just one run on two hits, three walks and struck out six to earn the win for Marysville, while Jacob Latta led the offense going 2-3 with a double, three runs scored, two RBI's and a hit by pitch. Linn managed only two hits coming by Jerrod Hoover and Eric Miller.

The night at Somerset Park in Sabetha finished out with Silver Lake and Sabetha taking on each other in first round Zone tournament action. After four close games earlier this season the final margin of the Zone contest proved to be the widest of the season between the two teams in their five meetings as Silver Lake claimed the 14-7 win. Silver Lake took the early lead in the first inning taking advantage of opportunities to lead 2-0, but Sabetha in the bottom of the first responded with three runs on three walks and RBI singles from Preston Bruning and Seth Burdick making it 3-2. Silver Lake regained the lead in the top of the third as Justin Keller delivered a two-out two RBI double to give them the 4-3 lead and Silver Lake did not give that lead up. The lead for Silver Lake grew to six runs in the top of fourth as they scored five runs aided by three Sabetha errors, but Sabetha clawed right back into the contest with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-7 Silver Lake after four. Over the final three innings Silver Lake added to their lead with a run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth and seventh innings going on to grab the 14-7 win.

Silver Lake's 11-hit attack was led by two-hit nights from Wyatt Heiman, Alex Whitehead and Tyler Koelzer, while Keller's big two-out two RBI double in the third that gave Silver Lake the lead for good earned him McDonald's "Player of the Game" honors on KNZA. Bruning led Sabetha in the loss going 3-4 with two RBI's and a run scored, while Kaid Allen finished 2-3 with two doubles, two RBI's, a run scored and a walk.

The AA Zone Tournament continues on Monday night at Somerset Park as Seneca takes on Corning at 6:00pm in first round action, followed by Doniphan County versus Silver Lake at 8:00pm in the Semifinals (both games on 103.9 KNZA). For the teams that were in action on Sunday that don't continue play on Monday they continue on Tuesday or Wednesday night in Zone play as Marysville will play the winner of Seneca and Corning on Tuesday at 6:00pm in the Semifinals and Linn will play the loser on Tuesday at 8:00pm in the consolation bracket. Sabetha will play again on Wednesday in the consolation bracket.
