Silver Lake Legion Baseball Ends Regular Season With Pair of Wins Over Falls City

The Zone Tournament action is set to commence on Sunday but one Northeast Kansas League team had a couple more regular season games before focusing on Zone. Silver Lake traveled to Falls City for a double header and picked up a pair of wins, 7-3 and 7-2. 

Falls City took the early lead 1-0 lead in game one but Silver Lake took control in the third and fourth with two runs in the third and three more in the fourth to go up 5-1. Two more runs in the sixth padding the lead for Silver Lake and they went on to secure the 7-2 win. Tyler Layton and Reid Walker each notched two hits for Silver Lake in the win, while Walker added three RBI's.

Just like game one the host Falls City took the early lead plating two runs in the bottom of the first but Silver Lake responded in the top of the second with four runs to take the lead. Silver Lake went on to add single runs to the scoreboard in the third, fifth and sixth innings and snagged the win 7-2 for the sweep despite being out-hit by Falls City 8-5. Ryan Osterhaus and Josh Boyd each tossed three innings in the win, while Osterhaus had two of the Silver Lake's five hits. 

The pair of wins move Silver Lake to 18-14 on the season. The AA Zone tournament starts on Sunday at as Sabetha hosts and will take on Silver Lake in the first round Sunday night at 7:15pm after Marysville versus Linn first round game at 5:00pm. Seneca will take on Corning on Monday to finish the first round at 6:00pm and Doniphan County will take on the winner of Sabetha versus Silver Lake on Monday in the Semifinals at 8:00pm. Atchison, Leavenworth and Oskaloosa all start AAA Zone action on Monday at Ottawa.
