Sabetha Boys Golfers Take Third to Lead Area Performers at 3A State Tournament

While the rain fell again on Monday and led to delays in Salina for the Class 3A State boys golf tournament it didn't postpone the action past Monday as the golfers were able to finish the action and some strong performances were posted by area golfers. 

Leading the way the Sabetha Bluejays earned third place as a team out of 11 teams carding a 335 team score, only two strokes off of second place and six off first place. Sabetha was led by the play of Garrett Scott who carded a 77 to finish fifth place as the best individual round from area 3A golfers at State. Conner Epple grabbed a Top 20 finish with a round of 81 to take 17th place, while Jesse Burger with an 87 finished 44th. Jonah Montgomery and Reese Lierz shot rounds of 90 each to place 58th and 59th, respectively and Noah Garber finished out the Bluejays performances with a 92 to take 65th. There were 105 total individual golfers at the 3A State Tournament. 

A pair of ACCHS Tiger golfers qualified for State and both finished just outside the Top 20 at the State Tournament as Sam Sowers and Patrick Sullivan shot rounds of 82 and 83, respectively to place 22nd and 23rd. 

Marysville Bulldog, Joe Ellenbecker carded an 84 to earn 33rd place at the 3A State Tournament in Salina. 

Maur Hill-Mount Academy also competed as a team at State and finished ninth behind a team score of 357, but was only seven-strokes off of a sixth place finish. The Ravens were led by Canyon Miller who finished 38th with a round of 86, while Daniel DeLuna carded an 87 to place 42nd. Christian Wessel, Isaac Henderson, Nolan Dulac and Corbin Pulido finished 61st, 69th 85th and 94th with rounds of 91, 93, 100 and 105. 

Nemaha Central Thunder, Dalton Schmelzle posted a round of 99 at State and finished 83rd.
