Valley Falls Dragons Baseball Headed to 2-1A State Tournament

Two years removed from their last appearance at the State tournament the Valley Falls Dragon baseball team is headed back to the 2-1A State tournament after winning a Regional title on Wednesday. 

The Dragons headed into the Regionals as the number one seed and earned a first round bye, pushing them into the Semifinals and just two wins away from a bid to State. Awaiting the winner of the first round contest of Lyndon and McLouth the Dragons were eager to hit the field for Regional action. Lyndon topped McLouth 8-0 in the first round setting up the Semifinal matchup for Valley Falls to be a rematch of a early season double header between the two teams. 

The Dragons who swept Lyndon during the regular season with wins by two and six runs, cruised to the win in the Regional Semifinal beating up Lyndon for the 11-1 win the Dragons 15th win of the year (one win via the first round bye). 

In the Championship contest the host of the Regional Wabaunsee stood in the way of the Dragons but Valley Falls was prepared the Valley Falls snagged the 6-1 win to secure the Regional title and a bid to the 2-1A State tournament. 

Valley Falls will carry a 14-9 record headed into 2-1A State Tournament next week which will start Thursday, May 26th in Great Bend at Great Bend Sports Complex.
