Sabetha, Vermillion & Jeff West Finish First, Second & Third at Wamego Boys Golf Invite

Several area teams teed it up on Thursday to continue the boys golf season competing at the St. Marys Invitational and the leaderboard at the end of the day had a strong Kanzaland area flavor with several top performers.  

The top three team spots belonged to Sabetha, Vermillion and Jeff West at the St. Mary's Invitational as they were the only three teams to card team scores of under 400. The Bluejays put together the best four-man score at 342 to claim first place by 10-strokes, as Vermillion notched a 352 team score for second and Jeff West finished with a team score of 376 to take third. Nemaha Central tied for the fourth best team performance with a 402 score. While the only other area team to compete on the day was Perry Lecompton and the Kaws carded a team score of 439. 

Individually the top two spots belonged to Vermillion golfers Ryan Vernon and Otto Nermo who finished first and second after posting rounds of 80 and 83, respectively. Jason Gore also finished in the Top 10 carding the fifth best round on the day to tie for fifth. A 103 by Josh Tynon finished out Vermillion's four-man team score, while Austin Hardwick and Kobe Rumbo notched rounds of 105 and 107. 

Sabetha on their way to first place as a team had all four of their top scores who made up the team score all finish individually in the Top 10. Jesse Burger and Garrett Scott had the best two rounds for the Bluejays with an 84 and 85 to take third and fourth, while Reese Lierz tied for fifth with an 86 and an 87 by Connor Epple earned him seventh place. Noah Garber and Jonah Montgomery also competed for Sabetha on the day and each registered rounds of 91 and 92. 

Jeff West Tigers were led by two rounds of 90 by Cooper Mickens and Preston Stanley which earned them a tie for ninth place on the day. A 97 and 99 finished out the Tigers four-man score as Zach Murdock and Hunter Overstreet each carded those rounds, respectively. Isaac Dickey and Collin Ellis each also hit the course for Jeff West posting rounds of 104 and 107. 

Nemaha Central had a quartet of golfers in action with Dylan Enneking leading the Thunder with a 92, while Corey Heiman, Cory Nolte and Dalton Schmelzle finished with rounds of 100, 101 and 109.
