Maur Hill & Immaculata Lead Area Performances at Nemaha Central Boys Golf Invite

Area teams teed it up on Thursday at Spring Creek golf course in Seneca as Nemaha Central hosted boys golf action, but at the end of the day of the 15 teams competing it was a non-area team in Wamego taking the top spots. 

Wamego won the team title on the day by 25 strokes with a team score of 314 beating out Maur Hill-Mount Academy who took second place with a team score of 339. Immaculata, Clay Center and Vermillion (Centralia & Frankfort) finished out the Top five team performances placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively with team scores of 347, 355 and 360. Nemaha Central, Holton, Onaga, Washington County and St. Mary's finished out the Top 10 team scores posting scores of 360, 361, 386, 391 and 398. The rest of the team finishes had Valley Heights (426), Linn (444), Horton (451), Perry Lecompton (459) and Atchison (464) place 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. 

Three of the Top five individual performances belonged to Wamego on the day but the top area individual picked up third place as Dawson Schroeder of Immaculata shot 78 to finish third only three strokes off of the best round record at the Nemaha Central Invitational. Five other area golfers notched Top 10 individual performances at the Spring Creek golf course finishing sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth. Behind an 82 on Maur Hill's Sam Sowers took sixth place, while AJ Haussler of Holton carded an 83 to take seventh. Ryan Vernon of Vermillion and Chase McGatlin of Linn each also posted a round of 83 and finished eighth and ninth, while an 84 by Christian Wessel of Maur Hill gave him tenth place on the day.
