Nemaha Central Remains Unbeaten in Big Seven Volleyball Action with Sweep of Sabetha

Nemaha Central Thunder came out with a thunderous boom on the road against their rival Sabetha and earned a pair of Big Seven League wins in straight sets each time to remain unbeaten in League play.

The night started off with the teams trading points and serve early in set one of the first contest but Nemaha Central pushed their lead to 12-8 and Sabetha called a timeout. Out of the timeout Nemaha Central continued to find their groove as Rachael Baumgartner and Kaley Dalinghaus made several plays put front and the Thunder extended their lead to 22-14 when Sabetha called their second timeout. The Bluejays rallied and cut the lead to three late but the Thunder answered with the final two points of the set to claim set one 25-20. In set two Nemaha Central jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage and had Sabetha on their heels the entire set and a service error by the Bluejays sealed the set and match for Nemaha Central, 25-14 in set two.

In the nightcap it was a joust back and forth for control in set one and the matchup was tied at 9-9, then Sabetha led 11-9, but Nemaha Central answered with a run to lead 14-11 and forced a Sabetha timeout. Out of the timeout the Bluejays found a groove a Emily Meyer and Mariah Huneke strong together strong plays to help Sabetha tie the set at 14-14, but the Thunder sounded and Nemaha Central strung four-straight points together to regain control of the set at 18-14 and went on to grab set one 25-18, finishing it on a Laura Macke ace. Set two was again tight early as the teams were tied at 7-7, but three-straight by Nemaha Central put them up 10-7 and the Bluejays called a timeout. The lead continued to grow in the second set and the Thunder earned the 25-19 set two win and claimed the match win.

The pair of straight set wins for Nemaha Central puts them at 17-4 on the season and 10-0 in Big Seven play, while Sabetha falls to 9-5 on the year and 5-3 in Big Seven action.
