Nemaha Central Wins 3A Boys Golf Regional & Six Other Area Golfers Qualify For State

Atchison Golf Club at Bellevue was the host for Class 3A boys golf action on Monday for several Northeast Kansas teams in Regional action.

The Nemaha Central Thunder made the biggest splash for the area at Regionals claiming the Regional title and qualifies for the 3A State competition on Tuesday, May 26th as they posted a team score of 353, eight-strokes ahead of second place. Zach Bradley led the way for the Thunder as he carded a round of 78 placing second individually, while Blake Mohney shot an 88 good for sixth place. Dylan Enneking tied for 11th for the Thunder after a round of 92, while Michael Love and Cory Nolte each registered rounds of 95 to tie for 13th, while Tristan Allen also competed for Nemaha Central posting a round fo 104.

While, Nemaha Central is the only 3A area team to qualify for State four other area schools are sending at least one golfer to the State competition.

For the ACCHS Tigers there has been only two golfers all season competing in action and both will continue their season at State as Patrick Sullivan won the Regional in Atchison behind a round of 77 and his teammate Sam Sowers shot a 90 to take eighth and qualify for State.

The host Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens also will be sending a pair of golfers to State and were seven-strokes off of second place behind Rossville from qualifying as a team for State. Both Christian Wessel and Canyon Miller each qualified for State for the Ravens after posting rounds of 85 and 89 to place fourth and seventh, respectively.

Marysville Bulldog, Joe Ellenbecker and Sabetha Bluejay, Connor Epple each notched rounds of 91 earning them the final individual spots at State from the 3A Regional hosted by Maur Hill. Ellenbecker finished ninth and Epple tenth, officially but with the tie score both qualify for State.

The golf season continues next Tuesday, May 26th for the 3A golfers as they will tee it up in the State competition at Hesston Golf Park in Hesston.
