Nemaha Central Girls & Boys Sweep Home Track Meet Titles

On a beautiful Tuesday the Nemaha Central Thunder played host to many Twin Valley League teams and Pawnee City (NE) for track and field action in Seneca and it was the Thunder coming out on top as a team in both the girls and boys action.

Both Thunder teams won by a wide margin as the lady Thunder won by 53 points and the boys claimed the win by 44.5 points. For the girls, Nemaha Central behind five first place finishes and 180 total points earned first place, while Pawnee City took second place and Axtell girls placed third. Finishing out the girls team standings: Valley Heights took fourth, Centralia fifth, Onaga sixth, Wetmore seventh and Troy eighth. The Nemaha Central boys registered 151 total points and were led by five first place performances on their way to first place. Pawnee City boys took second place, while Valley Heights boys rounded out the Top three team finishes. Finishing out the boys team standings: Axtell fourth, Centralia fifth, Onaga sixth, Wetmore seventh and Troy eighth.

Ten first place performances speared headed the Nemaha Central Thunder's strong day on their home track helping them earn the team wins on the day. For the girls Kaley Dalinghaus led the way by tossing her way to wins in the shot put and discus with throws of 39'02 and 118'09, while Shaylyn Stallbaumer also threw her way to a win in the javelin (124'00). Rachael Baumgartner picked up the gold in the pole vault with a vault of 9'06 and the girls 4x100 meter relay team posted a time of 53.27 to take the gold. Shiann Kramer, Baumgartner, Allison Rottinghaus and Jenna Macke made up the quartet for the 4x100 meter relay team.

In the boys action the Thunder had Jacob Koezler and Zach Bradley earn gold medals on the track as Koezler sprinted to the win in the 100 meter dash (10.96) and Bradley won the 300 meter hurdles (42.11), while both Bradley and Koezler teamed up with Luke Haverkamp and Alec Suther to win the 4x100 meter relay (46.27). Abe Elder and Caleb Bradley each won a field event for Nemaha Central, as Elder leapt to the win in the high jump (5'10) and Bradley vaulted to the win the pole vault (11'06).

The second place team on the day in both girls and boys competition, Pawnee City brought home 11 gold medals on the day, with a three gold day by Mariah Willey leading the way. Willey raced to wins in the 100 meter dash (12.81) and the 100 meter hurdles (15.18) and leapt her way to the win in the long jump (16'08.75). Shelby Hundley picked up a win for the Indians in the 300 meter hurdles (48.78), while the girls 4x400 meter relay team won with a time of 4:28.80. For the boys Clayton Branek tossed his way to wins in the shot put (47'06) and discus (129'01.50), while Alex Menninga won both the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:07.90 and 4:49. The boys 4x400 meter relay team (3:43.84) also claimed victory for the Indians on the day.

A dual gold day by Bradie Schmitz led Axtell as she won the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 27.36 and 1:02.99. The lady Eagles 4x800 meter relay team made up of Courtney Heinen, Maryna Buessing, Kiersten Talbot and Schmitz posted a time of 11:02.81 to claim first place, while Talbot also won the 800 meter run behind a time of 2:34.58. Mariah Deters leapt her way to a win in the high jump with a leap of 5'04. In the boy's action the Eagles won the 4x800 meter relay behind a time of 9:03.05, as Colton Buessing, Kristian Scheibe, Burke Deters and Brice Koch made up the Eagles quartet for the 4x800.

Centralia Panther, Sadie Jones led the Panthers on the day as she paced her way to wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs posting times of 6:06.05 and 13:11.71. While in the boys competition Wyatt VanDorn earned first place in the 200 meter dash sprinting to a time of 23.42.

Valley Heights Mustangs had six first place performances on the day with Elijah Smith picking up four of them. Smith raced his way to wins in the 400 meter dash (52.96) and the 110 meter hurdles (14.74), while leaping to wins in the long jump (21'10) and triple jump (45'00.75). Adrian Pishny and Kayla Smith both also picked up gold medals for the Mustangs as Pishny won the 3200 meter run (10:30.08) and Smith won the triple jump (35'02.50).

Michael Bliss of Onaga also won an event behind a toss of 155'03, he claimed first place in the boys javelin, while Wetmore and Troy also had competitors in action on the day.
