Perry Lecompton & Pleasant Ridge Track Teams Compete at Bobcat Relays

Perry Lecompton and Pleasant Ridge continued their track season taking on some top flight competition at the Bobcat Relays on Friday at Basehor-Linwood and came home with some top notch performances.

The Kaws saw the only individual first place finish between the two area teams as Austin Kurtz tossed his way to victory in the javelin behind a toss of 49.27 meters, while six silver medals were earned by Perry Lecompton competitors. Cole Kellum sprinted his way to second place in the 400 meter dash, while the Kaws boys 4x400 meter relay and 4x100 meter throwers relay teams each took home silver, also. In the girls competition Taylor Ball tossed her way to second place in both the shot put and discus, while Harleigh Robertson also tossed her way to a silver medal coming in the javelin and Abbi Folks took second in the triple jump, while also leaping to a fourth place finish in the long jump.

Cody Williams brought home a pair of bronze medals for Perry Lecompton as he took third in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while Torin Vannest placed third in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles. The Kaws boys 4x100 meter relay team finished third place, along with a third place was earned in the sprint medley relay (100-100-200-400) by the lady Kaws. Max Kuenzi also finished fourth place in the pole vault for Perry Lecompton.

For Pleasant Ridge a first place finish by the 4x100 meter relay throwers relay team (1:03.00) led the day, while Gabe Younger and Jagar Haack each nabbed second place finishes. Younger paced his way to second place in the 800 meter run, while Haack tossed his way to the silver in the shot put. Luke Oatney, Taylor Satre and Grace McKinney each registered a fourth place finish coming the 1600 meter run, javelin and 200 meter dash, respectively.

The track season continues on Tuesday for Perry Lecompton at their home meet and on Thursday for Pleasant Ridge at the Northern Heights Invitational.
