Every year it seems like you can make the argument that multiple Twin Valley League teams should face each other for the State title in multiple classifications and this year it happened as the Hanover Wildcats and Doniphan West Mustangs battled for the 1A-DI State title in Emporia.

The was a tight contest throughout the first half as Doniphan West struck first in the game but trailed Hanover 7-6 after the first quarter, the lead was up to two-points at halftime at 19-17 for Hanover. Both teams struggled in the first half not getting into any rhythm but the game was tight. In the second half the Hanover Wildcats found a rhythm and went out on one of their patent runs, while Doniphan West struggled to find the bottom of the net and were outscored 27-10 in the quarter, proving to be the difference in the game as the Mustangs were unable to overcome the deficit falling 58-36.

In the loss the Mustangs were led by junior, Cooper Leach who scored 13 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked four shots, as Doniphan West capped their off their best season in school history with a 19-8 record and runner-up finish in 1A-DI.

For the Hanover Wildcats they were led by sophomore, Will Bruna who scored 20 points, while Andrew Bruna added 12 points and Hunter Nicholson posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
