It's the dream of many student athletes to continue their playing careers at the next level in college, with NCAA Division I being the top level. Only some have the opportunity to play at the Division I and that dream was realized by a local student athlete recently as Horton Charger senior, Trey Dishon committed to play football at Kansas State University on a full-ride scholarship.

Dishon who originally committed to play at Northwest Missouri now as the opportunity to put on purple and represent the K-State Wildcats on the football field for the next four years. The Horton senior helped the Chargers to one of their best seasons in a while on the football field this year, as Horton finished 7-2, winning the Northeast Kansas League title and making the Class 3A playoffs. Individually, Dishon had his best season for the Chargers registering 49 tackles (10 TFL), 4.5 sacks (18 hurries), an interception (5 PD), fumble recovery, two blocked punts and a blocked field goal on defense at defensive end. While on offense at tight end caught 11 passes for 196 yards a touchdown and ran for 75 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown.

Plenty of postseason honors came the way of Dishon as he was selected first team All-NEKL at tight end, defensive end and kicker, while earning Class 3A All-State and also was selected to the 2015 Kansas Shrine Bowl.

During his Charger career he amassed 150 tackles, seven sacks three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, an interception, two blocked punts and three blocked field goals, while scoring five touchdowns on offense.

Dishon joins a K-State Wildcat recruiting class that now has 16 players for Coach Bill Synder, including six homegrown Kansas kids. The Wildcats according to Rivals.com currently have the ninth best 2015 recruiting class in the Big 12 for next year.
