ACCHS Girls and Jeff West Boys Win Third Game

In the final game before the holiday break, it was a battle of Tigers in Meriden, with the ACCHS girls winning a thriller and the Jeff West boys posting a blowout as both teams improved to 3-2 on the season.

GIRLS = ACCHS 51, Jeff West 50
Faith Becker converted a three-point play for Jeff West to tie the score at 50 with :20 left in the game, but Jeff West missed a shot after an ACCHS turnovers and Mallory Eckert was fouled while sprinting up the court with 2.3 seconds left.  Her free throw gave the visiting Tigers a big win to improve to 3-2 on the season.

With ACCHS trailing 5-1, Eckert came off the bench and made three straight treys and finished with 16 points including five trifecat's to earn "Player to Bank On" honors.  Lillie Holtgrave hit two big triples to close the third quarter, in which ACCHS had an 18-6 advantage, and finsihed with 15 points, while Jentry Scherer added 13 points, including two late putbacks.  

Olivia Brees has a monster night for Jeff West with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks and a couple steals while the 6'3 senior center also hit three baskets behind the arc.  Fellow 6-footer, freshman, Mariah Murdie added 9 points, but Jeff West had 18 turnovers and missed 10 free throws in falling for their fourth straight game (1-4).  Jeff West led 29-22 at halftime and 47-45 late.  

BOYS = Jeff West 71, ACCHS 34

The Jeff West boys went on an early 12-0 run to take a 20-4 advantage and never look back.  JW led 42-13 at halftime and coasted to a 3-2 record with the home win.  The three Jeff West seniors all scored in double-figures as Jacob Dickey and Grady Middendorf each scored 19 and Connor Mickens added 10.  Dickey was 9 of 10 at the line and had 13 points at halftime to earn "Player to Bank On" honors while Mickens had 8 points in the third quarter after ACCHS started the half on a 10-4 run.  ACCHS fell to 0-5 but got 14 points from Jesse Noll and 10 from Lane Bowen, while committing more than 20 turnovers on the night.
