The Royal Valley Panthers added to their win streak in their only home games in the month of December with a pair of Big Seven League victories against Riverside on Tuesday night.

GIRLS = Royal Valley 62, Riverside 19

The Royal Valley girls scored the first six points of the game and had a double-digit lead for good with a 12-2 advantage.  The Lady Panthers led 47-14 at halftime, thanks in part to freshman, Tamo Thomas who hit four treys and scored 14 of her 16 in the opening half.  Jaycee Worrell added 12 points and Kate Hanson had 14 for the Royal Valley girls who improved to 2-2 with their second straight win.  Levonna BigGoose chipped in nine points off the bench and the Panthers forced 25 turnovers.  Riverside was led by Rayme Butts with seven points, but remains winless on the season.

BOYS = Royal Valley 49, Riverside 46 in Overtime

The boys game was close through with both teams holding seven point leads in the first half.  Royal Valley led 7-0 with one minute left in the first quarter, before Riverside got a bucket from Andrae McGaughy to spark a 17-3 run and take a 17-10 lead late in the second quarter.  Royal Valley went back in top late in the third quarter on two straight buckets by Tristan Tessendorf to make it 28-27 entering the fourth.  Riverside regained the lead on a trey by Jadon LaRue with three minutes to play, but Tessendorf answered and Noah Rottinghaus tied the game again at 39 with one-minute left.

Bryer Miller scored all 12 of his points in the second half including a fourth quarter trifecta and a driving basket with :30 left to give the visiting Cyclones a 41-39 lead.  Rottinghaus hit a step-back jumper with :12 remaining in regulation and Riverside missed a long three as the game went to overtime.

Pheonix Keller put Riverside ahead 46-45 with a free throw and :32 to play in overtime, but Rottinghaus again stepped up and made a basket with :20 left as Royal Valley reclaimed the lead.  Riverside then committed a costly turnover on an inbounds play at mid-court and Rottinghaus added two free throws for the final margin.

Noah Rottinhaus finished with 18 points with 16 in the second half while Tessendorf added 10 and Royal Valley won their third straight to improve to 3-1.  Riverside dropped to 2-2 on the year with Grant Shue scoring 11 and McGaughy 10, but both players fouled out along with Alec Miller in the fourth quarter.
