Valley Heights & Jefferson County North Runners Claim Top Spots at Troy Cross Country Invite

Five area teams took to the course Thursday afternoon in cross country action at the Troy Invitational as the Trojans hosted Doniphan West, Riverside, McLouth/Oskaloosa and Jefferson County North for competition and it was Valley Heights and JCN coming away with the top Individual performances.

Valley Heights Mustang, Adrian Pishny raced his way to a time of 19:28.48 to claim first place, while Carissa McAfee of JCN blistered past her competition notching a time of 18:29.21 to take first in the girl’s race, winning by over 1:14.

Highlighting the rest of the day for Valley Heights was Ilexus Rose in the girl’s competition as she notched a second place finish behind a time of 19:43.56. While the JCN Chargers had three other Top 10 finishers on the day as Kayla Hutzell joined McAfee in the Top 10 in the girl's race finishing ninth with a time of 22:47.84 and Brysen Weishaar and Ted Sharp placed sixth and seventh, respectively in the boy’s race with times of 20:24.66 and 20:35.36.

McLouth/Oskaloosa claimed first place as a team in both the boys and girl’s competition as they beat out both JCN and Valley Heights in the boy’s race as teams and JCN in the girl’s competition. Leading the way for McLouth/Oskaloosa was a third place performance by Ceara Funk in the girl’s race as she posted a time of 20:17.63. Sabvanna Noble joined Funk in the Top 10 in the girl’s competition place fifth behind a time of 21:56, while Ryan Bristol and Tristan Funk raced to fourth and fifth place showings in the boy’s race with times of 20:05.81 and 20:24.66.

The Riverside Cyclones were led by a second and third place finish by Cole and Tristan Hinton in the boy’s race as they posted times of 19:34.19 and 19:45.73. While, Doniphan West had a pair of Top 10 finishers in the girls race as Mackenzie Boos and Kassydi Miller notched fourth and sixth place showings with times of 20:41.89 and 22:05.28. The host Troy Trojans saw their lone Top 10 performance come at the hands of Kylee Anthony who finished eighth with a time of 22:40.36.
