Two weeks of action are in the books in the high school football season in the State of Kansas and some teams are already in a groove, while others are still trying to find themselves early on in the young season.

After two weeks of action three area teams find themselves ranked in polls across the State, while many others continue to garner attention in the polls.

In Class 4A-DII the Holton Wildcats bounced back in an impressive way from a Week one loss to Silver Lake by dominating Maize South in a 40-21 win moving to 1-1 on the season and keeping themselves in the rankings across the State. Holton checks in at #2 both the Kansasprepfootball.com and Topeka Capital Journal polls, while ranking #3 in the VarsityKansas and Kpreps, polls. The only other area 4A-DII school getting attention in the polls as Perry Lecompton who lost to the #1 3A school in Silver Lake is in the other category of many polls after a 1-1 start to the year.

Class 3A houses another area team in the rankings as the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers who area dominating their Twin Valley League foes through the first two weeks are ranked #5 in both the Kansasprepfootball.com and Topeka Capital Journal polls, but just in the others category at the moment in the VarsityKansas and Kpreps, polls. The Panthers are off to a 2-0 start and beat a ranked 2-1A, Troy team last week 50-14. Four other area teams in 3A area receiving attention in at least one poll as Nemaha Central (2-0), Sabetha (1-0), McLouth (2-0) and Riverside (1-1) are all garnering attention in polls.

Class 2-1A this week does not have a ranked area team across the State, as the Troy Trojans fell out of the rankings after their loss to Centralia, but are 1-1 on the season and the only area 2-1A team still getting attention in the polls from the area.

At the 8-Man football level the Hanover Wildcats look to be easily one of the favorites in 8-Man Division I and are ranked #1 across the board in all four polls across the State, after their 2-0 start, topping Frankfort this past week 60-12. While in the Division II level the Linn Bulldogs after their 2-0 start are gaining some attention in polls across the State, while Frankfort at 1-1 on the season is also getting some attention.

Week three sets up to have plenty of big matchups for multiple area teams as the football season rolls along.
