Nemaha Valley, Marysville & Washington County Compete at Republic County Upper Division Track Invite

Three area teams competed in the upper division level at the Republic County track Invitational on Tuesday as Nemaha Valley, Marysville and Washington County all had competitors in action against five other schools.

For the Nemaha Valley Raiders the boys came home with a fourth place team performance of eight teams, while the girls placed fifth as team. In the boys competition the Raiders didn't win any events but were led by a pair of second place showings as David Holthaus took second in the 200 meter dash and Caleb Bradley placed second in the pole vault. Colin Lierz claimed third place in both the 800 meter run and 1600 meter run for the Raiders, while Story Feldkamp placed third in the shot put.

The lady Raiders were led by a pair of first place showings on the day as Shaylyn Stallbaumer and Rachael Baumgartner each earned a first place. Stallbaumer tossed her way to the win in the javelin with a toss of 127'11, while Baumgartner ran her way to a win in the 300 meter hurdles with time of 49.03. Rachael added a second place in the 100 meter hurdles and the pole vault to her day. Mikayla Peterson registered a top three finish in the 800 meter run finishing third, while Michaela Stallbaumer took third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

Lady Marysville Bulldogs took home second place as a team on the day, while the boys finished seventh as team. Leading the charge for the lady Bulldogs was Rachel Heiman, Chole Cudney, Aubrie Peschel and the 4x800 meter relay team as they all earned gold medals. Heiman sprinted to the win in the 100 meter dash with time of 13.06, while Cudney leapt her way to a long jump win behind a leap of 15'06 and Peschel paced her way to the win in the 3200 meter run (12:43.31). The Bulldogs 4x800 team of Bryclin Alstrom, Peschel, Lauren Hawkinson and Ally Kort posted a time of 10:41.80 to gain the gold medal. The Marysville boy’s best performance came by Joe Smith who took home second place in the 1600 meter run.

Washington County also competed in the upper division meet at Republic County and earned a third place boys team finish and fourth for the girls. The Tigers were led by the strong showings of Dylan Hodgson and Kyle Edger in the boy’s competition and Erin Alexander on the girls side. Hodgson paced his way to the win in the 1600 meter run behind a time of 4:37.02, while Edger earned the win in the long jump with a leap of 19'06. Alexander tossed her way to wins in the shot put (40'01.50) and discus (114'08) for the Tigers.
