Linn Girls & Washington County Boys Win Washington County TVL Quad

It was a battle on the track between the Twin Valley League teams out west was Washington County hosted Hanover, Clifton-Clyde and Linn for a quadrangular track competition.

At the end of the day it was the Linn girls and Washington County boys earning first place team performances. After Linn in the girls competition Washington County took second, Clifton-Clyde finished third and Hanover took fourth. On the boy’s side Hanover placed second, Linn took third and Clifton-Clyde placed fourth.

For the Linn Bulldog girls in their first place performance they saw eight first place performances earned with Nicole Ohlde and Kendra Bargman leading the way with a pair of first place showings. Ohlde raced to wins in 1600 meter run (6:03.92) and the 800 meter run (2:40.33), while Bargman sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.17 and 27.77. Linn lady Bulldogs also claimed both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay gold’s behind times of 52.71 and 4:28.91 on the day. While, Acacia Thalmann and Hannah Bott both won field events winning the high jump (4'10) and javelin (116'09), respectively.

Washington County, Clifton-Clyde and Hanover girls all had three first place individual event performances.

Washington County girls took home second and had were led by Erin Alexander on the day as she tossed her way to wins in both the shot put (40'03.75) and discus (114'02). Heidi Stegman added one other first place showing for the Tigers by winning the pole vault with a vault of 8'0.

Clifton-Clyde grabbed three first place showing in the girl’s competition, too as Elizabeth Nobert won the 300 meter hurdles (51.99), Abigail Sikes won the 3200 meter run (16:24.31) and Arika Long finished first in the long jump (15'06).

Hanover girls claimed their first place showings in the 400 meter run, 4x800 meter relay and triple jump. Katelyn Jueneman raced her way to the win the 400 meter run (1:04.65), while the 4x800 team posted a time of 11:46.39 to win gold and Paige Doebele leapt her way to the triple jump win (31'09.75).

The Washington County boys were led by five first place performances on their way to a team first place as their home meet. Brett Herrs and Logan Keir both tossed their way to wins in the shot put (47'08) and discus (119'09.5), while Kyle Edgar and Justin Hoover both also won a field event winning the long jump (20'03.75) and pole vault (11'0), respectively. Tigers’ lone win on the track was by Dylan Hodgson won claimed the 800 meter run title with a time of 2:04.67.

Hanover who took home second place as a team had four individual first place performances. The Wildcats 4x800 meter relay team posted a time of 9:49.03 to win the gold, while Evan Zabokrtsky won the 400 meter run (52.95). Dacey Hagedorn and Trey Loshe each won a distance race grabbing wins in the 3200 meter run (13:05.54) and 1600 meter run (5:27.98), respectively.

The most first place showings on the day in the boys competition actually came from the team that ultimately finished third as a team, the Linn Bulldogs who won seven events. Leading the charge for Linn was Chad Gross and Kurt Van Der Mewe who both won two events. Gross leapt his way to wins in the triple jump (40'07.5) and high jump (6'06), while Van Der Mewe sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dash with times of 11.48 and 23.46.

Bulldogs 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams also claimed first place showings posting times of 45.58 and 3:44.22. Josh Meyer grabbed the other first place finish as he tossed his way to a win the javelin (149'03).

Clifton-Clyde's lone first place showings on the day in the boy’s competition both came at the hands of Brendon Asch swept the hurdles winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 17.02 and 44.45.
