Holton Wins Golf Invite of 9 Local Teams at Hiawatha Friday

Nine area golf teams gathered Friday under perfect conditions at the Hiawatha Country Club.  Holton came away with the team title (160), while Sabetha was 13 strokes behind in second place (173) and Maur Hill/Mount Academy was another 10 shots back in third place (183). Falls City (193) edged the host Hiawatha (194) by one-stroke to finish fourth.  

Individually, Holton had four of the best seven linksters on the day, including a trio in the top five. Kenton Tegethoff had the best round of 38, while Braedon Sides fired a 39 to place fourth and Ethan Holaday's 40 was good for fifth. Walker Degenhardt of the Wildcats placed seventh with a round of 43. 

Tyler Ulrich paced Sabetha with a 39 to place second overall while Taylor Jacobsen of Hiawatha also carded a 39 to medal third.  Kevan Herbster of Sabetha was sixth with a 42, while Josh Sangrait of Hiawatha placed eighth with a 43. Evin Wheaton from Immaculata and Blake Scism of B&B rounded out the top 10.  

Brody Weinmann had the best round for Falls City with a 47, while Reed Lobdell led Horton golfers with a 49 while Jase Nelson had a 55 to pace Atchison.
